At Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant project (Hai Ha commune, Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa province), the general contractor and joint venture of contractors have successfully synchronized unit 1 into the national power sýtem. This event marks the efforts of the investor, general contractor and construction contractors to overcome difficulties in the complicated situation of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On July 14, 2021, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh chaired a meeting on the National Power Development Planning for period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045 (PDP VIII).

Recently, a consortium of 3 investors, Siemens Energy, KG Electric Power Corporation and Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC 2), has just sent a document to the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee to submit a Pre-Feasibility Study Report and an investment proposal for Vung Ang 3 LNG Power Center in Vung Ang Economic Zone, Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh province.

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) informed that in the first 6 months of 2021, the electricity generation and import of the whole system reached 128.51 billion kWh, increasing 7.4% over the same period in 2020, including 14.69 billion kWh (equal to 11.4%)from the renewable energy projects, 624 million kWh (0.5%) from import.

On June 30, 2021 in Hanoi, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) held the signing ceremony of the Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement and Credit Contract for Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Project (TPP).

Information from the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) said: On the morning of June 28, in Hanoi, under the witness of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary, Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, EVN General Director Tran Dinh Nhan attended the ceremony to exchange power purchase agreement (PPA) between EVN and hydropower investors in Laos.

On 29/6/2021 in Hanoi, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and the French Development Agency (AFD) held the signing ceremony of credit agreement for the preferential loan without government guarantee, worth €74.7 million for the Ialy extended Hydropower project (HPP).

The Prime Minister has issued a Decision on the roadmap, conditions and sector structure for establishment and development of power market grades in Vietnam.

At 6 pm on June 16, 2021, EVN Repair Service Center (EVNPSC) in coordination with Hoa Binh Hydropower Company and related organizations successfully synchronized the unit No1 of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant to the national power system after this unit stopping for repair and replacing a cable section from oil insulation to dry one with a length of 600 meters and a weight of 11 tons from 220 kV output of the step-up transformer of unit 1 to 220 kV transition substation.

The consortium of Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan), Hyundai Engineering and Construction (Korea), Construction Corporation No. 1 (Consortium MC - HDEC - CC1) has just been approved by Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to win the bidding package. No. 15 (EPC-QT1) on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) for Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Project (TPP).

The Prime Minister (PM) Pham Minh Chinh assigned the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Le Van Thanh to direct careful checking the content of Power Development Planning VIII (PDP VIII) with a target to ensure a suitability of practice and national interests, especially to remark anti-negativity in policy establishment. PM also paid attention to careful studying electricity prices, reasonable structure of power plants (hydro, thermal and renewable power plants) and balance between regions to avoid wasting social resources.

At 23:54 on May 30, 2021, at the 220kV Son Ha transformer substation in Son Ha District, Quang Ngai Province, the Management Board of Power Transmission Project a unit of the National Power Transmission (NPTPMB) in cooperation with the related units has successfully powered 220 kV - 250 MVA transformer (AT1) in Son Ha 220kV Transformer Substation (TS).

According to the Institute of Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnam's power system is one of the power systems in the world with the highest growth rate. However, the World Bank asserts, the electricity consumption per capita in Vietnam is still lower than the world average.

Lilama 18 Joint Stock Company signed a contract to install the whole equipment including turbines, generators and auxiliary equipment for Van Phong 1 Thermal Power project with Vietnam Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation (TPSC Co., Ltd). The contract with a total value of over 284 billion VND requires Lilama 18 to complete installing turbines; generators; processing and installing pipes and steel structures; installing insulations and E&I.

On April 27, 2021, in Hanoi, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and the contractor consortium: Lung Lo Construction Corporation, Truong Son Construction Corporation (Ministry of Defense), Song Da Corporation, Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation, LILAMA 10 Joint Stock Company held the Signing Ceremony of Contract for Package 37 (XL-05) - "Constructing and installing extension Ialy Hydropower Project".
