On December 4, 2021 in Hanoi held a meeting between the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) on the situation of coal supply for power production in 2021 and preparing the plan to supply coal for EVN's thermal power plants in 2022.

In Document No. 8594/VPCP-KTTH dated November 24, 2021 of the Government Office, Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) Le Minh Khai proposed to develop a GovernmentDecree ontransferringthe power projects as the public assets to the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).

The Government Office has just issued an Announce No 308/TB-VPCP on the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Le Van Thanh at the meeting with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) about finalizing the Power Development Planning VIII (PDP VIII).

On November 10, 2021, in Hanoi took place a ceremony for signing a credit agreement for a preferential loan without a government guarantee with a value of 70 million Euro (equivalent to 1,900 billion VND, accounting for about 20% of total investment capital) that the French Development Agency (AFD) lends to Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) for extending Hoa Binh hydropower plant.

On November 3, 2021, the Government Office issued announcement No 296/TB-VPCP on the conclusion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the meeting of the Government Permanent Council on land rent collection from the power transmission lines.

On October 24, 2021, in Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh province, starting ceremony of the Quang Ninh LNG power project took place. This is the first power project using imported LNG in Northern Vietnam.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien has just sent a document to report to the Prime Minister the situation of electricity supply proposes urgent solutions to ensure electricity supply for meeting the socio-economic development requirements of the country and daily life of the people in 2022 and the following years.

On October 7, 2021, Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Quang Tri Economic Zone Management Board handed the Decision on investment policy and agreement for Hai Lang LNG – Power Center with a capacity of 1500 MW (phase 1) to Vietnamese T&T group and Korean enterprises as Hanwha Energy Joint Stock Company, Korean Power Group (KOSPO), Korean Gas Group (KOGAS). The total investment of phase 1 of the project is 2.3 billion US$ (about 54,000 billion VND), including 60% from Korean side and 40% T&T group.

On October 4, in Hanoi, PetroVietnam Power Corporation - JSC (PV Power) held a signing ceremony to appoint a consortium for arranging and coordinating capital mobilization for Nhon Trach 3 & 4 power projects.

On September 26, 2021, in Khanh Hoa province, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) under the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) organized starting to construct Van Phong 500 kV transformer substation and connects.

On September 20, 2021, Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 (PECC 1) signed a design consultant service contract with the consortium of Song Da Corporation – Tanahu (Nepal) for package No1 of the Tanahu hydropower dam. The signing ceremony was conducted online.

The Government Office has just issued Announce No. 238/TB-VPCP on the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh at the meeting of the National Steering Committee on Electricity Development for reviewing the implementation of the key power projects and draft content of Power Development Planning VIII (PDP VIII).

The Government Office has just issued Document No 6530/VPCP-QHQT, dated September 16, 2021 on handling petitions related to implementing plan of O Mon 3, Tan Phuoc 1 and 2 thermal power projects. In this document the Government suggests to expeditiously prepare the necessary conditions to submit for approving O Mon 3 investment policy rightly after issuing Decree by the Government for replacing Decree 56 on managing and using ODA and preferential loan capitals from the foreign sponsors.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Decision No. 1459/QD-TTg dated September 6, 2021, on strengthening the Appraisal Council of the National Power Development Planning for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2045 (PDP VIII) with the Chairman as Mr. Le Van Thanh - the Deputy Prime Minister and the Vice Chairman as Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien - the Minister of Industry and Trade.

After the Prime Minister's decision on strengthening the National Steering Committee for the Electricity Development, (NSCED) The Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien has just signed the Decision on appointing Mr. Phung Manh Ngoc - Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) to hold the position of Secretariat of NSCED Office.
