On May 4, in Hanoi, the signing ceremony of the power purchase agreement (PPA) for Song Hau 1 Thermal Power Plant was held between the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN) and the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).

On April 28, in Hanoi, Power Project Management Board 2 and Consortium of Contactors as the Corporation of Industrial Machinery and Equipment, Mechanical Research Institute, Electromechanical Construction Corporation, and LILAMA10 Joint Stock Company signed a contract for package No 41 (TB-2) to supply the hydro-technic equipment and technical services for the Ialy Extended Hydropower Project.

Thac Ba 2 Hydropower Project with an installed capacity of 18.9 MW will be built on the Chay River in Yen Binh district, expected to be started in June 2022.

On March 31, 2022, in Hanoi, Power Project Management Board 2 held a ceremony for signing contracts for 2 packages of power transmission project from Laos to Vietnam.

In power plants, water is the lifeblood of the electrical generating process. The characteristics of water/steam throughout the entire process have a major impact on overall performance. Two critical focus areas are controlling the performance impact of silica deposits on critical assets, and were used, ensuring the proper dosage level of phosphate to prevent corrosion in drum-type boilers. Though control of silica and phosphate require different strategies, with reliable, actionable insights from on-line monitoring, plant personnel gain confidence to take the necessary actions to extend critical asset lifetime, while avoiding expensive maintenance and unplanned shutdowns.

The Power Development Planning VIII (PDP in period 2021 - 2045) proposes developing LNG power projects to gradually reduce dependence on coal-fired power projects for their flexibility as changing capacity in the load demand and emitting only 50% CO2 amount in comparison with the coal-fired thermal power plant (CTPP), 70% compared oil-fired thermal power plant of the same capacity, reducing 90% NOx, not emitting dust and operating at a capacity factor of 90 %.

On March 28, 2022, in Hanoi, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and the French Development Agency (AFD) held a ceremony for signing a credit agreement for a preferential loan without a government guarantee valued 80 million Euros for the Southern distribution grid project invested by Southern Electricity Corporation (EVNSPC).

On March 17, 2022, in Hanoi, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and the Department of National Remote Sensing (DNRS), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment held a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement on applying image data, remote sensing products into survey, design consultancy, investment and construction activities of power projects, management, operation and monitoring of power systems, serving to build digital data platform of EVN.

On March 14, in Hanoi, PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) and the consortium of contractors (Samsung C&T Corporation), Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation (Lilama) held a ceremony for signing the Engineering –Procurement – Construction (EPC) Contract for Nhon Trach 3 &4 power plants and other relevant agreements.

On March 6, in Binh Thuan province, Power Project Management Board 2 coordinated with contractors to organize the construction of Vinh Hao 220 kV transformer substation and a connection line.

On the morning of 23 February 2022, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Le Van Thanh came to check the progress of the Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Project (TPP). DPM welcomed the important milestone of the Thai Binh 2 TPP as the first igniting and considered that this is an important milestone for the project to finish in 2022.

On February 22, in Yen Bai province, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and Project Management Board of Central Power Projects (CPMB) deployed to construct the two urgent transmission projects in the Northwest Region including Huoi Quang - Nghia Lo 220 kV transmission line; Nghia Lo 220 kV transformer substation and 220 kV transformation line from Nghia Lo to 500 kV Viet Tri transformer substation.

On the morning of February 10, 2022, Nghi Son 2 Electric Co., Ltd. in coordination with the investor, Korea Electricity Corporation (Kepco) and Marubeni Group, Tohoku Company (Japan) held the inauguration ceremony of unit No. 1 of Nghi Son BOT Thermal Power Plant 2.

On February 9, in Hanoi, Power Project Management Board 2 held a signing ceremony for the contract of EPC package No. 3 for 220 kV Vinh Hao transformer substation and connection line.

The Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Projects were approved by the Prime Minister for investment policy, appraised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) for basic designs, decided by PV Power for investment and managed by the Power Management Board for project development implementation.
