In order to speed up the procedures for deploying investment in developing power projects (power plants and grids) for electricity importation from Laos to Vietnam, recently Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) directed a mission of EVN National Power Transmission (EVN NPT) headed by Mr. Nguyen Tuan Tung, NPT chairman to have working meeting with a number of the investors of power projects in Laos.

On August 15, in Hanoi, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) had a meeting with Mr. Ho Phi Hung - Deputy General Director of China Southern Power Grid International Co., Ltd. (CSGI) under China Southern Power Grid Company (CSG).

At present, in Vietnam, there are 10 independent power projects (IPPs) with a total capacity of 11,092 MW. However, there are only 4 projects in development. The rest projects still encounter difficulties and obstacles in capital mobilization and land clearance.

The Government Office has just issued Document No 206/TB-VPCP announcing the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh at the working session on the report for supplementing and clarifying a number of contents of the Power Development Planning VIII (PDP VIII) according to Official Document No 3787/BCT-ĐL dated July 4, 2022 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT).

On the afternoon of July 16, in Hau Giang province, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the inauguration ceremony of Song Hau 1 Thermal Power Plant, invested by Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN).

On July 12, in Hanoi, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), had a working with Mr. Stephan Opitz - General Director in charge of Europe - Asia regions of the German Reconstruction Bank (KfW). At the meeting, the two sides exchanged difficulties in arranging capital for the projects.

The report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to the Prime Minister on the production and business situation in the first 6 months of 2022 of the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) informed good implementing the electricity production and supply of the system in first 6 months of 2022, that ensured to meet the electricity demand for production and daily life of the people in the whole country, especially during long-term holidays and New Year's holidays and during the days of SEA Games 31.

At a working meeting with Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) on June 20, in Hanoi, Mr. Satoru Harada – Executive Director of the Electricity business division of Marubeni Group in Vietnam expressed his wish to continuously cooperate with EVN in the renewable energy and LNG power projects in Vietnam coming period.

The signing ceremony took place on June 9, in Hanoi, organized by the Power Project Management Unit 2 (under Electricity of Vietnam - EVN) and the Contractor Consortium of Andritz Group (Austria) and 3C Computer - Communication Joint Stock Company - Control (Vietnam).

On June 6, in Hanoi, Mr. Ngiam Shih Chun - Executive Director of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority of Singapore (EMA) had a meeting with Electricity of Vietnam (EVN). At the meeting, Mr. Ngiam Shih Chun said that EMA wishes to coordinate with EVN to deploy the grid connection to improve the power supply reliability in Vietnam and Singapore.

Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) just had a meeting with the representatives of Karpowership Group (Republic of Turkey) to discuss cooperation opportunities between the two sides, in which there was a solution to generate electricity from floating power plants (when the Vietnamese power system will lack local supply).

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has agreed with the proposal of Son La province on increasing the capacity of the Son La Hydropower Plant from 2,400 MW to 3,200 MW.

Many member organizations of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) have been promoting the application of digital transformation in production, business, investment and construction activities to improve efficiency and strengthen supervision.

On the morning of May 22, 2022, a ceremony for again electricity generation of unit 1 of xekaman 3 hydropower plant, invested by Viet- Lao Viet Lao Power Joint Stock Company took place in Dak Cheung district, Sekong province, Lao PDR.

At the headquarters of the World Bank (WB) in Washington D.C. (USA), the Mission of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) headed by Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - Chairman of the EVN Member Council had a working meeting with WB leaders on researching the pump-storage hydraulic, LNG, offshore power development and financial arrangement for investing in power projects and establishing the Energy Transition Strategy.
