The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) informed that the PVN mission headed by Mr. Nguyen Hung Dung – Member of the PVN Member Council visited and worked at Sembcorp Group (Singapore) and during the visit, Sembcorp Corporation and PetroVietnam Joint -Stock Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on renewable energy development, cross-border electricity trading, low carbon solutions (as hydrogen, ammonia), energy storage systems, smart grids and support/participation in developing LNG infrastructure in Vietnam.

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) informed that the electricity output of Vietnam's power system in October 2022 reached 21.9 billion kWh and in 10 months of 2022 achieved 225.98 billion kWh, increasing 6.1% over the same period.

The Department of Planning and Investment of Quang Ninh province has officially issued the Business Registration Certificate for Quang Ninh LNG Power Joint Stock Company, (QN LNG Power).

Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director and the mission of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) just had a working meeting at the Electricity of Cambodia (EDC) in Phnom Penh. At the meeting, the two sides discussed the plan for the expansion of electricity trading cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia in the coming time.

On the afternoon of October 11, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Juan Ignacio Rubiolo - Permanent Vice Chairman of AES Energy Corporation (USA). On this occasion, AES proposed Vietnamese Government improve the investment and business environment, including the development of a pilot regulation on the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA).

On the afternoon of September 26, 2022, Thac Ba 2 Hydropower Joint Stock Company (TBC2) signed a credit contract for Thac Ba 2 hydropower project with Vietnam Single Limited Shinhan (Shinhan), consulting contract for management and construction supervising (PMC) with Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC2).

30 August 2022, Singapore– Keppel Infrastructure Holdings Limited (Keppel Infrastructure), through its wholly owned subsidiary Keppel Energy, has reached final investment decision (FID) to develop a 600MW state-of-the-art, advanced combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant, and has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to a consortium comprising Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific and Jurong Engineering for the construction of the plant. To be built in the Sakra sector of Jurong Island, the Keppel Sakra Cogen Plant will be the firrst hydrogen-ready power plant ing Singapore.

On the Power Development Planning Project VIII submitted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to the Standing Government in Document No 4778/TTr-BCT dated August 11, 2022, the Government Office has just issued the Document on Conclusions of the Standing Government on the National Power Development Planning for the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045 (PDP VIII).

In order to speed up the procedures for deploying investment in developing power projects (power plants and grids) for electricity importation from Laos to Vietnam, recently Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) directed a mission of EVN National Power Transmission (EVN NPT) headed by Mr. Nguyen Tuan Tung, NPT chairman to have working meeting with a number of the investors of power projects in Laos.

On August 15, in Hanoi, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) had a meeting with Mr. Ho Phi Hung - Deputy General Director of China Southern Power Grid International Co., Ltd. (CSGI) under China Southern Power Grid Company (CSG).

At present, in Vietnam, there are 10 independent power projects (IPPs) with a total capacity of 11,092 MW. However, there are only 4 projects in development. The rest projects still encounter difficulties and obstacles in capital mobilization and land clearance.

The Government Office has just issued Document No 206/TB-VPCP announcing the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh at the working session on the report for supplementing and clarifying a number of contents of the Power Development Planning VIII (PDP VIII) according to Official Document No 3787/BCT-ĐL dated July 4, 2022 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT).

On the afternoon of July 16, in Hau Giang province, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the inauguration ceremony of Song Hau 1 Thermal Power Plant, invested by Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN).

On July 12, in Hanoi, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), had a working with Mr. Stephan Opitz - General Director in charge of Europe - Asia regions of the German Reconstruction Bank (KfW). At the meeting, the two sides exchanged difficulties in arranging capital for the projects.

The report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to the Prime Minister on the production and business situation in the first 6 months of 2022 of the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) informed good implementing the electricity production and supply of the system in first 6 months of 2022, that ensured to meet the electricity demand for production and daily life of the people in the whole country, especially during long-term holidays and New Year's holidays and during the days of SEA Games 31.
