The Prime Minister (PM) has promulgated the list of 3006 key energy users in the whole country by 2019. Accordingly, the total number of key energy users in 2019 Including 2,441 industrial, 15 agricultural, 84 transport and 466 construction units.

Due to not much time for individual appraising wind power projects to submit the Power Development Planning VIII (PDP VIII), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has decided to stop appraising wind power projects for supplementation to PDP VII (adjusted).

The Government has just issued Decree No. 99/2020/ ND-CP on the regulations to punish the administrative violations in the petroleum relevant activities (searching, exploring, exploiting and trading petroleum). The Decree stipulates the maximal administrative violation in exploring and exploiting oil and gas as 01 billion VND for an individual and 02 billion VND for an organization.

The Minister of Industry and Trade has just issued Circular No. 18/2020 / TT-BCT to regulate development and model power purchase agreement (PPA) for the solar power projects (Circular 18).

Sharing with the press on July 8, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong informed: Besides the electricity tariff with 5 price ladders instead of the current tariff with 6 ladders, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) will additionally submit an ‘one-price tariff’ for the electricity customers to choose.

The Party Staff-Member Board of Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has just issued Resolution No. 21-NQ/BCSĐ, dated January 10, 2020 on the principles and processes for adjusting and supplementing the power projects into the power development planning (PDP) in an order of prioritizing the grid first, power plant latter, and prioritizing the areas with a few renewable energy (RE) projects and areas with an ability to release capacities of power plants.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has just issued Document No. 9608/BCT-DL, dated December 16, 2019, to the People's Committees of the provinces and cities directly under the Central Government and the Electricity of Vietnam, on stopping proposals and agreements for solar power projects (SPPs) under Feed in Tariff (FIT) mechanism.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has just signed a Decision for approving the content of ‘The National Energy Master Plan in 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050’.

The Prime Minister has approved the policy to invest in Dung Quat 1 and Dung Quat 3 Gas Turbine Combined Cycle (GTCC) Plants in the chain of Blue Whale Projects.

On October 16, 2019, in Hanoi, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and the Electricity Trading Company (EVNEPTC) signed the Contract on power transmission service for 2019-2023 period with the price of electricity transmission in 2019 as 101.3 VND/kWh, down 9.58 VND/kWh in comparison with the price in 2018.

The Prime Minister has approved the content of the project on the National Power Development Planning in 2021 – 2030 period with a vision up to 2045 (PDP VIII).

People's Committee of Da Nang city has just issued a Decision on approving the draft and funding for roofs solar power development project to 2025, with an outlook up to 2035.
