Considered a highly polluting manufacturing industry, coal enterprises strive to implement environmental protection solutions towards sustainable development.

The Prime Minister (PM) has just approved the project “Adjusting the development planning of the coal industry in 2016 – 2020 period with outlook up to 2030” in which, the PM decided to adjust the list of some infrastructure projects; supplement the list and closed corner boundary coordinates of the projects for maintaining coal production.

At November 11 evening, in Ha Long city Quang Ninh Provincial Administration, Vinacomin and Northeast Coal Corporation held the 80th Anniversary of Traditional Day of Miners - Traditional Day of Coal Industry (12/11/1936 – 12/11/2016). Chairman of National Assembly (NA), Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended and spoke at the ceremony.

In orientation of coal industry restructure 2016-2020 period Vietnam National Coal - Minerals Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) would retain only 4 major business sectors as coal, minerals, electricity and industrial explosives.

According to the Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin), in the first three months of 2014, crude coal output came to an estimated 10.07 million tonnes, 26.7 percent of the year’s target and 95.92 percent of that in the same period last year. The corporation’s clean coal output was an estimated 8.73 million tonnes, 25.5 percent of the year’s target and 93.3 percent of that in the same period last year.

In the first two months of this year, the coal industry made positive changes. Coal production increased by four percent while consumption reached nearly six million tonnes, positively contributing to completing the industry’s set targets.
