In Quang Ninh, Vietnam Coal and Minerals Industries Group (Vinacomin) held a conference to deploy a business coordination plan and sign a contract for exploiting and processing coal and minerals in 2021.

On October 19, 2020, in the presence of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide, the consortium of investors including PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power), Vietnam Mechanical and Machine Assembly Joint Stock Company (Colavi), Tokyo Gas Group and Marubeni Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Quang Ninh LNG Power Project

The Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corp., Ltd. (Vinacomin) loaded its first tonnes of coal onto the Viet Thuan Sky ship at Cam Pha port in the northern province of Quang Ninh on February 5 (the first day of the Lunar NewYear).

The Quang Ninh Electricity Company is carrying out the installation of solar panels for 15 households residing on Tran island, Thanh Lan commune, Co To Island district, the northern province of Quang Ninh.

On the morning of October 26, at the Parliamentary Meeting on the socio-economic situation, Mr. Le Minh Chuan, the Secretary of Party Committee, Chairman of Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Corporation (Vinacomin), a delegate of the National Assembly of Quang Ninh province had a speech on analysis of the role of the coal sector with the subject "The role of the coal for the security of the national energy" and proposed the four issues needed to be to be urgently solved for helping development of the coal industry.

“Vinacomin held a conference to summarize the production and business plan in 2016, and prepare implementing the plan in 2017 with a new spirit...", this was affirmed by Mr. Le Minh Chuan, the Chairman of Vinacomin Member Council with at a meeting of the Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc with Quang Ninh Provincial and the Coal Industrial leaderships on December 23, 2016.

At November 11 evening, in Ha Long city Quang Ninh Provincial Administration, Vinacomin and Northeast Coal Corporation held the 80th Anniversary of Traditional Day of Miners - Traditional Day of Coal Industry (12/11/1936 – 12/11/2016). Chairman of National Assembly (NA), Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended and spoke at the ceremony.

At a coal customer conference held on April 24, 2016 in Quang Ninh province, Vinacomin General Director Dang Thanh Hai affirmed, Vinacomin commits to take the initiative in satisfying coal market.

Quang Ninh Province's historic rainstorm severely disrupted the area's coal supplies, and could temporarily shut down several thermal power plants.

According to the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), in the first half of 2014, power output of the EVNNPT was estimated to have reached 59.95 billion kilowatts, an increase of nine percent compared with the same period last year, accounting for 19.1 percent of this year’s plan. The power loss reached 2.6 percent, down 0.06 percent on the corresponding period of 2013.
