The Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) has adopted solutions to implement the project on restructuring state-owned enterprises approved by the prime minister with a focus on key areas.

Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam (ERAV) Director Dang Huy Cuong said that the south would not lack power in the dry season this year. In particular, the risk of power shortages in the southern provinces will be avoided thanks to putting the Pleiku-My Phuoc-Cau Bong 500 kV power transmission line into operation.

The two bauxite projects remain one of the national key projects with the goal of increasing the share of industry in GDP, contributing to ensuring Lam Dong and Dak Nong’s socio-economic development. In the first quarter of this year, the two projects achieved positive results. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said that the two bauxite projects would bring greater economic efficiency.

In the first two months of this year, the coal industry made positive changes. Coal production increased by four percent while consumption reached nearly six million tonnes, positively contributing to completing the industry’s set targets.

The southern province of Dong Thap is hoping to attain an industrial production value of VND16.5 trillion (US$775.5 million) this year.
