According to the Vietnamese Government Decree No 98/2017/ND-CP issued at 18/8/2017 on the functions, tasks, authorities and sector structure of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), the General Directorate of Energy (GDE - MOIT) will be separated into the Electricity and Renewable Energy, Petroleum and Coal, and Energy Saving and Sustainable Development Departments.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) is organizing a public consultation on the draft Decree stipulating the mechanism for developing power projects using domestic natural gas, imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) and some main contents, applicable in electricity purchase contracts. Below is the main content of this draft.

Vietnamese Government has issued new Decree on Environmental Protective Fees (EPFs) in mining minerals, according to which the EPF for: crude oil is 100,000 dong/ton, natural and coal gases -  50 dong/m3, associated gas – 35 dong/m3.

On July 01, 2023, the Government promulgated Decree 45/2023/ND-CP for the detailed regulations on a number of articles of the Petroleum Law, including regulations on safety in the design, manufacture, construction and operation of petroleum projects.
