March 30, 2026, HS Hyosung Advanced Materials has put into operation a 17.5 MWp rooftop solar power system at its largest production site in Vietnam, marking a major step toward building a “Smart Green Factory” model while enhancing ESG competitiveness and meeting increasingly stringent global supply chain standards.

On March 5, 2026, SPEV Sustainability Vietnam Co., Ltd. and Changshin Dong Nai Co., Ltd. held a contract-signing ceremony to deploy a rooftop solar power system at the Changshin factory. The agreement marks an important milestone in the company’s ESG roadmap and its efforts to reduce emissions in pursuit of the RE100 initiative. Nuriflex Vietnam Co., Ltd. is participating in the project as the EPC general contractor.

At the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), Vice Minister Nguyen Hoang Long recently chaired a meeting with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP – Denmark) to discuss the progress of the South Central Offshore Wind Power Project No. 1 and future cooperation directions. At the meeting, CIP representatives provided an update on the cooperation progress between CIP and the Vietnam National Industry – Energy Group (PVN) in developing offshore wind power projects in the South Central region.

At the invitation of General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary To Lam will pay a state visit to Laos on February 5. This marks his first overseas visit since the 14th National Party Congress. On this occasion, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos published a noteworthy article on the Savan 1 Wind Power Plant – a project invested in and developed in Laos by a Vietnamese enterprise.

As Vietnam accelerates the development of wind and solar power under Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8), the national power system is facing rising demands for flexibility, stability, and controllability. In this context, energy storage, particularly battery-based systems, must evolve beyond capacity expansion and be digitalized to become essential infrastructure that ensures safe operation, long-term economic viability, and sustainable integration of renewable energy.

Amid the global energy transition and Vietnam’s commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, greening industrial parks (IPs) is no longer an option but an imperative. Emerging trade barriers such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and sustainability reporting requirements under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) are exerting direct pressure on Vietnam’s export-oriented enterprises, compelling them to demonstrate that their products are manufactured using clean energy. A recent field survey conducted across four representative industrial parks, Amata and Long Duc in Dong Nai Province, and Kinh Bac (Que Vo) and VSIP in Bac Ninh Province provides a comprehensive picture of the current status, progress made, and the legal and technical bottlenecks facing the deployment of rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

On December 26, 2025, the Savan 1 Wind Power Plant, which was invested in and developed by T&T Group in Laos, officially commenced commercial operation, marking an important milestone for T&T Group in the renewable energy sector and contributing to the realization of the goal of increasing electricity imports from Laos to Vietnam in accordance with the agreement between the two governments.

Amid mounting difficulties and challenges, and in the absence of a common consensus on investment in gas-fired power projects using domestic gas and imported LNG, investors in this sector have recently submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister outlining three key principles to resolve the remaining disagreements. These include: (1) Reasonable and fair risk allocation; (2) Two key proposals to remove existing bottlenecks; and (3) Addressing other bankability-related issues. On December 8, 2025, Kolon Industries’ Ho Chi Minh City plant (formerly located in Binh Duong), in collaboration with NuriFlex Vietnam, officially commenced commercial operation of its 5.151 MWp rooftop solar power system. This development marks a meaningful step toward sustainable corporate governance and contributes to Vietnam’s national goal of carbon neutrality.

Ho Chi Minh City – NuriFlex Vietnam, a subsidiary of Korea’s global energy solutions provider NuriFlex Group, has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with C&N VINA to develop large-scale rooftop solar power systems across three major industrial parks in central and southern Vietnam. Covering an estimated 1,600 hectares, the initiative is expected to accelerate Vietnam’s clean energy transition and support the development of sustainable industrial zones in line with national policy.

The People’s Committee of Gia Lai Province has just approved the adjustment of the provincial plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. In the energy sector, new projects have been updated and added according to the allocated capacities, while also incorporating projects aligned with Prime Minister’s Decision No. 768/QĐ-TTg dated April 15, 2025, on the adjustment of the National Power Development Plan VIII.

In Hanoi, Mr. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, President and CEO of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), held a working session with the Ambassador of Denmark to Vietnam and a delegation from Vestas - the world’s largest wind turbine manufacturer. During the meeting, the two sides discussed potential cooperation in renewable energy development, operational technologies, and wind power project management.
