The People’s Committee of Gia Lai Province has issued a decision approving the investment policy for the Sê San 4 Hydropower Plant Expansion Project and approving Vietnam Electricity (EVN) as its investor.

In July 2026 and during the first seven months of the year, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and its member companies ensured sufficient electricity supply for the country's socio-economic development and people's daily needs.

TUYEN QUANG, 10 August 2026 – The Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee has issued a decision approving the investment policy and investor, Vietnam Electricity (EVN), for the Tuyen Quang Hydropower Expansion Project.

HANOI, 27 July 2026 – Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) have agreed to strengthen cooperation in research, technical exchanges, and the development of a roadmap for battery energy storage systems (BESS), to gradually master the technology to support power system development and enhance national energy security.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has issued Decision No. 1882/QD-BCT dated 23 July 2026, approving the 2026 electricity generation price framework for combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plants fueled by natural gas. Under the Decision, the electricity generation price ranges from VND 0 to VND 3,410.64 per kWh, excluding value-added tax (VAT).

On the afternoon of 16 July 2026, at the Government Headquarters in Hanoi, Politburo Member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc received Mr. Sergey Machekhin, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of RusHydro, one of the Russian Federation's leading energy companies.

During the first six months of 2026, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and its subsidiaries made significant efforts to ensure a safe and reliable power supply to support the country's socio-economic development and meet growing electricity demand. In particular, throughout June, the power system successfully maintained a stable electricity supply for major national events, including the 2026–2027 high school entrance examinations, the 2026 national high school graduation examination, and university and vocational education entrance examinations.

On June 22, 2026, Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung chaired a working session at the Ministry’s headquarters with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and relevant agencies to comprehensively review the power supply situation during the first half of 2026 and discuss solutions for the remainder of the year amid increasingly complex weather conditions and rising electricity demand.

At exactly 00:01 on June 1, 2026, Vietnam’s Pleikrông Hydropower Plant (100 MW) and Sê San 3 Hydropower Plant (260 MW) officially entered the Vietnam Competitive Wholesale Electricity Market (VWEM). This milestone marks an important step toward improving operational and business efficiency, optimizing revenue generation, and enhancing transparency in the management and operation of hydropower plants within Vietnam Electricity (EVN).

Mr. Nguyen Tai Anh, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), recently held a meeting with a delegation from NOVATEK (Russia), led by Mr. Sergey G. Soloviev, Vice Chairman of the Board and Director of Prospective Projects. During the meeting, both sides discussed potential cooperation in developing LNG-to-power project chains in Vietnam, covering fuel supply, LNG receiving and regasification infrastructure, and power generation projects.

On April 22 in Hanoi, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and Hyosung Heavy Industries (Republic of Korea) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a cooperation framework and promote future investment opportunities. On the same day, EVN President & CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan met with Kim Tae Min, Executive Vice President of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), to discuss cooperation in power technologies, energy storage, transmission, and new power development.

The Ninh Binh Provincial People’s Committee has issued a Decision approving the investment policy and, at the same time, approving the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) as the investor for the Nam Dinh - Hau Loc 220kV transmission line project.

In Son La, a delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, led by Vice Minister Nguyen Hoang Long, held a working session with the Son La People’s Committee on projects under the revised Power Development Plan VIII.

In Hanoi, a working delegation from the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee and the Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee, led by Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, held a meeting with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to review the progress of power source and grid projects. The meeting also focused on solutions to address challenges related to land clearance, procedures, and investment capital, to ensure a reliable electricity supply for the province’s socio-economic development.

In the first quarter of 2026, the global situation continued to evolve in a complex and unpredictable manner, directly affecting the production and business activities of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and its member units. In this context, EVN closely followed the directives of the Party, Government, ministries, and sectors, while proactively implementing response measures to overcome difficulties and maintain stable operations.
