On September 15, 2025, in Quang Binh, Power Project Management Board No. 2 (EVNPMB2) and the consortium of Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 (PECC1) and Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 3 (PECC3) signed Contract Package No. 07 (TV07-QTII): Consultancy on Bidding and Support for EPC Contract Management of Quang Trach 2 LNG Thermal Power Plant.

On September 4, 2025 in Hanoi, within the framework of the Vietnam-Italy Business Forum organized by the Ministry of Finance, the Italian Trade Promotion Agency (ITA) and the Italian National Confederation of Industry (Confindustria), the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and the Italian State Development Bank (CDP) awarded a letter of intent to cooperate on the Bac Ai Storage Hydropower Plant project.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) is drafting a Circular that sets out the pricing mechanism for electricity generation services provided by Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), as well as the key terms of power purchase agreements applicable to this new type of facility.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) recently held a mid-term review conference (both in-person and online) on the implementation of Decree No. 57/2025/ND-CP on the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) mechanism and Decree No. 58/2025/ND-CP on the development of renewable and new energy. The event gathered representatives from ministries, sectors, local authorities, the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), as well as numerous energy enterprises. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long chaired the conference.

On the morning of August 19, 2025, in Trị An Commune, Đồng Nai Province, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Trị An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project. This is one of 250 projects nationwide being launched or inaugurated to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

A representative of Karpowership (Turkey) presented the floating power plant solution during a working session with the leadership of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) on July 7 in Hanoi.

On June 24, 2025, in Frankfurt (Federal Republic of Germany), Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and the German Development Bank (KfW) signed a loan agreement worth EUR 65 million for the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project. This is the first project for which EVN has received direct financing from KfW without a government guarantee, marking a significant milestone in enhancing EVN’s financial credibility and its ability to access international capital markets.

At the 1st Party Congress of the Electricity Authority for the 2025–2030 term, the Authority outlined its strategic vision and objectives under the motto: “Solidarity, Democracy, Discipline, Breakthrough, Development.” The primary goal is to take the lead in institutional reform, spearhead the sustainable energy transition, and ensure a safe, reliable, and reasonably priced electricity supply. The Authority also aims to proactively engage in international integration, contributing to the national target of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 through a set of specific key tasks.

On June 11, in Quang Binh, EVN held a working session with the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee regarding projects at the Quang Trach Power Center. At the meeting, EVN Chairman of the Members’ Council Dang Hoang An proposed that the Provincial People's Committee, the Government Office, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade continue to assign EVN as the investor of the Quang Trach 3 LNG Thermal Power Plant Project.

On May 30, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 1509/QD-BCT, approving the Implementation Plan for the Adjustment of the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050 (hereinafter referred to as the "Implementation Plan").

On May 26, 2025, at the Presidential Palace, during the official visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Vietnam, immediately following his talks with President Luong Cưuong, the French Development Agency (AfD) and the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) signed a financing agreement worth 67 million euros to support the expansion and modernization of Vietnam’s power transmission network. This is the first project under the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) framework to be approved by an international partner and also represents the first public financing among the global financial commitments pledged to support Vietnam's JETP since 2022.

In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, together with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement among leading energy enterprises from the three countries. The agreement aims to develop and export renewable electricity from Vietnam to Malaysia and Singapore.

At the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recently received Mr. Peng Gangping, Chairman of the Board of Directors of China Huadian Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. (China Huadian Group).

On May 14, 2025, in Hanoi, the CEOs of EVN and TNB held a working session to discuss strategic energy cooperation. In a meeting with Mr. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, President and CEO of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Datuk Ir. Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan, President and CEO of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) of Malaysia, proposed a strategic collaboration on the development of a regional power transmission network interconnecting countries across the region, including proposed transmission lines between Malaysia and Vietnam, both overland and via subsea cables.

On April 26, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) officially issued Decision No. 1198/QD-BCT, approving the electricity generation price framework for pumped storage hydropower plants for the year 2025.
