On May 30, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 1509/QD-BCT, approving the Implementation Plan for the Adjustment of the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050 (hereinafter referred to as the "Implementation Plan").

On May 26, 2025, at the Presidential Palace, during the official visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Vietnam, immediately following his talks with President Luong Cưuong, the French Development Agency (AfD) and the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) signed a financing agreement worth 67 million euros to support the expansion and modernization of Vietnam’s power transmission network. This is the first project under the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) framework to be approved by an international partner and also represents the first public financing among the global financial commitments pledged to support Vietnam's JETP since 2022.

In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, together with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement among leading energy enterprises from the three countries. The agreement aims to develop and export renewable electricity from Vietnam to Malaysia and Singapore.

At the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recently received Mr. Peng Gangping, Chairman of the Board of Directors of China Huadian Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. (China Huadian Group).

On May 14, 2025, in Hanoi, the CEOs of EVN and TNB held a working session to discuss strategic energy cooperation. In a meeting with Mr. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, President and CEO of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Datuk Ir. Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan, President and CEO of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) of Malaysia, proposed a strategic collaboration on the development of a regional power transmission network interconnecting countries across the region, including proposed transmission lines between Malaysia and Vietnam, both overland and via subsea cables.

On April 26, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) officially issued Decision No. 1198/QD-BCT, approving the electricity generation price framework for pumped storage hydropower plants for the year 2025.

In Xiangkhuang province, Nam Neun 1 Hydropower Company (under ST Group Laos) has just held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Nam Neun 1 Hydropower project, which has a capacity of 124 MW. Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and representatives from relevant ministries, sectors, and local authorities attended the ceremony.

At the Ministry of Industry and Trade's headquarters, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien recently held working sessions with representatives from EREX Group (Japan) and SK Group (South Korea) to discuss collaboration opportunities in the fields of LNG power, hydrogen, and biomass energy in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just issued decisions approving the electricity generation price framework for hydropower plants, natural gas-fired combined cycle thermal power plants, and solar power plants. The approved decisions are effective from the date of signing (April 10, 2025).

On April 4th, 2025, in Hanoi, EVN Deputy General Director Mr. Pham Hong Phuong held a meeting with Dr. Frederic Sauze, Member of Executive Board, ANDRITZ AG cum President & CEO of ANDRITZ HYDRO GmbH and ANDRITZ Hydropower Group.

On March 10, 2025, in Hanoi, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) signed a credit contract for the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project. The credit facility, valued at VND 5.472 trillion, will be disbursed over two years.

The government issued Decree No. 61/2025/NĐ-CP on March 4, 2025, detailing certain provisions of the Electricity Law regarding electricity operation licenses. Specifically, it regulates the issuance of electricity operation licenses in power generation, transmission, distribution, wholesale, and retail electricity.

On March 3, 2025, in Yen Bai, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and the Power Project Management Board 1 held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the 500kV transmission line project Lao Cai - Vinh Yen (the section passing through Yen Bai province).

On February 24, 2025, in Hanoi, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and Vietnam Rubber Industry Group (VRG) signed a cooperation agreement.

On February 13, 2025, in Hanoi, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), Power Project Management Board 3 and the Contractor Consortium (Lung Lo Construction Corporation, Song Da Corporation, LILAMA 10 Joint Stock Company, SCI E&C Joint Stock Company, Construction Joint Stock Company 47, Truong Son Construction Corporation and Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation) held the signing ceremony of package 02XL-BA "Construction and installation of Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant - phase 2, phase 1 of the Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant project - Ninh Thuan province".
