The Dau Tieng 5 Solar Power Plant has a total installed capacity of 450 MW and is planned across approximately 645 hectares of the semi-submerged area of Dau Tieng Reservoir, about 500 meters west of Provincial Road 781 and approximately 3 km north of the Dau Tieng 1 Solar Power Plant. The project is developed by DT5.1 Energy JSC, with total investment capital of VND 7.774 trillion. It is classified as a Group A project and a Grade I industrial and energy facility.

Once operational, the Dau Tieng 5 Solar Power Plant is expected to generate approximately 808 GWh of clean electricity annually, contributing additional power to the national electricity system. Commercial operation is scheduled for December 2027.

The project will feature an integrated system comprising photovoltaic (PV) panels, distributed inverter systems, substations, transmission lines and grid-connection infrastructure. The application of modern technologies is expected to improve operational efficiency, optimize electricity generation and ensure safe connection to the national power system.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, To Dung, Chairman of Xuan Cau Holdings, said that the project is among the first to apply the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) mechanism, demonstrating the implementation of the DPPA mechanism introduced several years ago. He said the project would not only support the healthy development of power generators and large electricity consumers, but also contribute to the further development of a competitive electricity market.

The Chairman of Xuan Cau Holdings also highlighted the company's efforts and competitiveness, reflected in its commitment to project schedule, quality, performance, safety and efficiency, as well as its confidence in securing a DPPA agreement with foreign-invested enterprises.

Representing the consortium of main contractors, Zhou Jiayi, Chairman of PowerChina's Asia-Pacific regional headquarters, pledged to prioritize construction quality and project schedule while strictly complying with requirements on occupational safety, health and environmental protection. The contractor will also comply with relevant regulations and minimize the impact of construction activities on water resources, the environment and the reservoir's ecosystem, ensuring a balance between project development and environmental protection.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Le Van Han, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that the Dau Tieng 5 Solar Power Plant is the largest power generation project in terms of capacity in Tay Ninh Province to date.

Once completed, the project will not only contribute to national energy security and promote a green, clean and sustainable energy transition, but also further utilize the potential of the semi-submerged area of Dau Tieng Reservoir.

For Tay Ninh Province, the project is also expected to attract investment resources, create jobs, increase local budget revenues, stimulate construction and service activities, and support the development of related economic sectors, thereby contributing to the province's economic growth in the coming years.

Since 2018, Xuan Cau Holdings has developed the Dau Tieng 1, 2 and 3 Solar Power Plant cluster with a combined capacity of 500 MW, described as the largest solar power complex in Southeast Asia. The projects were developed across 720 hectares, equivalent to 2.6% of the total area of Dau Tieng Reservoir, and were completed after approximately 10 months of construction. The development helped lay the foundation for Tay Ninh to become one of Vietnam's solar energy centers.

The site selected for the Dau Tieng 5 Solar Power Plant is located in the semi-submerged area of Dau Tieng Reservoir, which was previously used mainly for cassava cultivation. Developing the solar power plant in the area is expected to make more effective use of available land and abundant solar resources while supporting local economic development./.
