CRRC Zhuzhou Institute Showcases Advanced BESS Solutions at Vietnam Energy Forum

Mr. Zhao Yue, Director of CRRC BESS International Delivery Center, presented CRRC’s comprehensive strengths in energy storage. He noted that CRRC Group, with a 145-year heritage in advanced equipment manufacturing, is a Fortune Global 500 company operating in 116 countries and regions, with CRRC Zhuzhou Institute serving as a core innovation and industrial platform.

According to Zhao Yue, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute has deployed more than 50 GWh of energy storage capacity worldwide, ranking among China’s industry leaders. The company possesses full value-chain capabilities across BESS research, development and manufacturing, including electrochemistry, structural design and thermal management, supported by an annual integration capacity of 40 GWh.

leveraging strong R&D capabilities and proven project experience, CRRC introduced advanced BESS technologies tailored to Vietnam’s tropical climate and grid characteristics, including high-efficiency liquid-cooling solutions and frequency-regulation technologies. These solutions offer practical pathways to help address renewable curtailment challenges while enhancing grid stability in Vietnam.

Safety, a key concern in BESS deployment, was another major focus of the presentation. CRRC highlighted its proprietary Fire Safety System (FSS), integrating multi-layer fire detection, aerosol suppression, active explosion protection, backup water-based fire protection and integrated manual operation.

CRRC also shared results from a large-scale fire test conducted in compliance with the 2026 editions of UL9540A and NFPA855, witnessed by SGS. According to the test results, CRRC’s BESS containers withstood continuous exposure to 1,500°C flames for 19 hours without structural damage or fire propagation, demonstrating a high level of operational safety for future large-scale projects, particularly in the Vietnamese market.

On the sidelines of the forum, representatives from the Electricity Authority of Vietnam (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and Vietnam Electricity held in-depth discussions with the CRRC team on potential cooperation in energy storage and broader green energy development.

The forum comes as Vietnam’s BESS market is expected to accelerate in support of Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8) and rising demand for energy storage solutions.
