On May 2, 2018 in An Khanh industrial zone, U Minh district, Ca Mau province, Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) held the Inauguration ceremony of Ca Mau gas processing plant. The National Assembly Chairman Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended and spoke at the ceremony.

The Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group (Petro Viet Nam) will build an offshore natural gas processing plant and two 700MW plants in central Quang Nam and neighbouring Quang Ngai provinces.

Gazprom International Corporation (Russian Federation) will build a 250,000 tons per year liquefied gas plant in the Southern Vietnam.  

A gas processing plant in U Minh district of the southernmost province of Ca Mau, designed with a capacity of 6.2 million cubic metres per day, will finish trial operations and begin commercial production in June 2017.

On February 7 morning, the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived Ca Mau Gas - Power- Fertilizer Industry Zone (Khanh An commune, U Minh Dist., Ca Mau province) for attending the ceremony for starting the construction of Ca Mau Gas Processing Project and welcoming the safe transportation of 10 billion cubic meters of gas from  PM3-CAA to Ca Mau.

According to information from Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), in Hanoi, PVN and Japan Petroleum Cooperation Center (JCCP) held a ceremony for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation between the two sides on oil and gas processing and new energy development.

On the morning of February 5, 2023, in the Conference on the Investment Promotion and Deployment of implementing the action plan of the Politburo Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW, happening in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh province, Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien, the Minister of Industry and Trade (MOIT) handed the decision on approving the investment policy of Son My 2 Gas Power Project (CCGT) with a capacity of 2.2 GW and a total investment of 1.8 billion US$ to Vietnam AES Company. The project is developed in Binh Thuan province having a 20-year contract with the Vietnamese Government.

On February 26, 2019, the People's Committee of Can Tho City and Power Generation Corporation 2 (Genco 2) had a meeting with JERA Company (Japan) on solution of using liquefied national gas (LNG) replacing FO for 660 MW O Mon 1 Thermal Power Plant (TPP).

The northern mountainous province of Lao Cai will focus investment on mineral processing in line with its socio-economic development master plan through 2020 with a vision to 2030.

The Prime Minister has agreed to supplement the Dong Phuong Condensate Processing Project at Can Tho city to Vietnam Petroleum Industry Development Planning.

Siemens will provide the equipment to upgrade the Hiep Phuoc 1 steam power plant in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to a combined cycle power plant. This project will increase the plant’s electrical capacity by roughly 780 megawatts (MW) to approximately 1,200 MW.
