Gia Lai is one of the provinces with a large potential to develop renewable energy, has an average sunshine hour number of 1,900-2,200 hours per year, total solar radiation of 335-380 kcal/cm2 or daily average solar radiation about 4.6-5.2 kWh/m2. The total potential for developing solar power projects (SPPs) in Gia Lai is 7500 MW, among which more than 5000 MW for ground projects and 2500 MW for floating projects.

On May 28, 2018, at the Investment Promotion Conference -2018 between Gia Lai province and Ho Chi Minh city, Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) signed the memorandum of investment with 11 investors with a total registered capital of more than 17 trillion VND and handed the decisions on investment policy to 10 projects with a total registered capital of around 5 trillion VND, including Krong Pa and Krong Pa 2 solar power projects. 

Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee (PPC) has just approved the investment policy for two wind power projects with a total capacity of 150 MW including Ia Le1project (in Ia Le commune) with a capacity of 100 MW and average annual generation of 320.683 GWh, invested by Cao Nguyen 1 Wind Power Development JS Company with 4,021 billion VND and 50 MW Nhon Hoa 2 project  (in Chu Don commune) invested by Nhon Hoa 2 Energy JS Company with 1,400 billion VND.

On April 19 2017, at the Investment Promotion Conference in Binh Thuan province with the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, was held a Ceremony for signing Investment MOUs on Three Clean Energy Project Investment in Binh Thuan between Duc Long Gia lai Group (DLG:HOSE) and Binh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee (PPC).
