The Northern Coal Trading Joint Stock Company (Vietnam National Coal – Mineral Industries Group - Vinacomin) has just received a coal bulk cargo shipment imported directly from IMI FUELS LLC (USA). This is the first shipment of coal imported from the United States to Vietnam.

At the Conference of the Prime Minister with the Businesses on May 9, 2020 in Hanoi, Mr. Vu Tu Thanh - Deputy Director of the US-ASEAN Business Council informed that the USA has founded an International Financial Development Agency (DFC) with a fund of over $100 billion and more increasing for supporting the partners of the US businesses. It is a very good opportunity for Vietnam energy businesses to borrow capital to import LNG and energy equipment from USA for developing Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) LNG fired plants.

On the afternoon of February 11, at the Government Office, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Trinh Dinh Dung received a group of the large and experienced enterprises in LNG power projects in the world from USA and South Korean which interest in developing the LNG power projects in Vietnam.

On September 9, 2019, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue received Mr. Scott Kicker, CEO of Gen X Energy Company (United States). At the meeting, Mr. Scott Kicker proposed to the Government of Vietnam, the wishe of Gen X Energy to invest in LNG complex project including LNG storage, gas transportation system and gas power project.

According to information from Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin): on August 1, 2019, in Hanoi, took place a working meeting between leaderships of Vinacomin and Xcoal (USA) to specifically discuss about the prospects of coal import directly from the US to Vietnam and promoting cooperation between Vinacomin and US businesses.

Doosan Vina recently sent 2,100 tons of components for two 300 MW Heat Recovery Steam Generators to the Salem Harbour Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant in the US state of Massachusetts.

On June 12-13, 2014, the United States Embassy in Ha Noi and General Department of Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam) held a conference on Unconventional Gas Technical Assistance Program (UGTEP).

Authorized by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and President of the United States Barack Obama , on May 5th 2014, the Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Vietnam David Shear have officially signed a cooperation agreement between the two countries on the peaceful use of nuclear energy (123 Agreement).
