Vietnam National Coal and Minerals Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) speeds up to perfrm the coal export contracts to rapidly release high-quality coal dust and lump coal in stock.

According to the report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) on situation of industrial and trading activities in the first eleven months of 2014, the coal export of  Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industry Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) has been increased for up to 30 percent.

Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has haven a paper to Prime Minister (PM) on the proposal to increase export quota of high quality coal dust to Japan in the condition that coal export to China is difficult due to the technical barriers of this country.

Russia is expected to export more than 200 million tons of coal in 2018, according to the country's energy minister on August 27.

On October 03, 2017, concluding at the online executive production briefing in October, the General director of Vinacomin Dang Thanh Hai asked the units to concentrate on producing high quality coal for export in order to compensate for the decrease in production due to low demand for electricity generation recent time.

Information from the General Department of Customs shows that in the first 8 months of 2017, Vietnam exports coal to almost all markets increasingly in comparison with that in the same time of the last year. It is particularly noticeable that coal export to Laos market increased for 16 times by amount (50,455 tons) and 15 times by value (4.32 million US$).

The Government has agreed to allow the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Corporation (Vinacomin) and Northeast Coal Corporation (NCC) to export 2 million tons of coal more in 2015.

To resolve in stock coal of Vinacomin, after balancing the domestic coal demand, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has petitioned the Government for  allowance to export coal.

The Prime Minister has accepted the suggestion of Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) for exporting 2.05 million tons of coal per year in 2016-2020 period including 2.0 million tons of Vinacomin and 50thousand tons of Northeast Corporation.

On May 9, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan, General Director and Mission of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and worked with Vinacomin leaders in Hanoi and Coal Northeast Corporation (CNC) in Quang Ninh, on coal supply for power generation, especially in the peak hot months of 2023.

On March 3, 2023, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), Minister Nguyen Hong Dien chaired a meeting with the leaders of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), and Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (TKV), Power Generation 1, Power Generation 2, Power Generation- 3 Joint Stock Company, TKV Power Company, PVN Power Company, Northeast Coal Corporation; Ninh Binh Fertilizer Single Company Limited, Ha Bac Fertilizer and Chemical Joint Stock company and a number of the coal-fired thermal power plants on the coal supply and coal import for electricity and nitrogen fertilizer production.

At the conference to review the plans in 2016 of Ministry of Resources and Environment, the Vietnam Geology and Mineral Department informed “At present, there have been identified 55 coal strata placed in 5 stratum groups from the surface to the depth of 1200 meters in mainland part of the Red River coal basin”.

The Minister of Industry and Trade has just issued a Decision approving the coal price framework and electricity generation price framework in 2023. Accordingly, the coal price is 1,808,000 VND/ton, the electricity generation price framework for coal-fired power plants is 0 - 1,559.70 VND/kWh and the electricity generation price range for hydropower plants is 0 - 1,110 VND/kWh (the above price framework does not include value added tax (VAT) and other related taxes and costs).

A conference to agree and sign a cooperation agreement between Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), South East Coal Trading Company (SECTC – Dong Bac Corporation) and Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), on long-term coal supply for Thermal power plants using anthracite coal in EVN has just taken place in Hanoi.

According to Vietnam News Agency, April 18th, the Japanese Congress approved a civil nuclear agreement with Turkey and United Arabs Emirates,  according to that, Japan will export nuclear power reactors to these rapid developing economies.
