Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has agreed to lay down as a policy the establishment of the project "National Energy Development Planning in 2016-2025 period with an outlook up to 2035".

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) to build a free market of gas (FMG) after 2020.

On March 9, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai chaired a meeting for considering the mechanisms to support investment in infrastructure construction of the Ninh Thuan province with an aim to contribute to socio - economic development, living stability of the people in the area under influence of the NPP construction.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has required Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) to conduct investors of the new power plants – objectives participating in competitive power generation market to complete rapidly necessary conditions for bringing them soon in the competitive electricity wholesale market.

The Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to speed the plan of the smart power grid development, enhance the power system operation efficiency, and stimulate the saving and efficiency energy use.

According to the Government Electronic newspaper, in on December 5, 2014 Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai chaired a meeting of the State Steering Committee on the National Power Development Planning, for listening to the report and primary considering adjustment project of National Power Development Planning.

On October 11, 2014, in Hanoi, Vinacomin celebrated the 20th anniversary of establishment (10/10 / 1994 - 10 / 10/2014) and received the Third Class Independence Medal.

In the morning of July 5th 2014, at Duc Hanh commune, Bu Gia Map District, Binh Phuoc Province, the Thac Mo Hydro Power JSC (Electricity of Vietnam-EVN) held a beginning ceremony on extension project of the Thac Mo Hydro Power Plant (HPP), increasing the capacity of the plant from 150 MW to 225 MW and complementing a 52 million kWh generation per year for the National Power System. Mr. Hoang Trung Hai, Deputy Prime Minister attended the ceremony and ordered to break ground for the project.

On July 15, 2014, Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN) held a ceremony to publish the Decision of the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on appointment of the chairman of PVN Member Council. Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai attended and handed the Decision to Mr Nguyen Xuan Son.
