The Party Staff-Member Board of Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has just issued Resolution No. 21-NQ/BCSĐ, dated January 10, 2020 on the principles and processes for adjusting and supplementing the power projects into the power development planning (PDP) in an order of prioritizing the grid first, power plant latter, and prioritizing the areas with a few renewable energy (RE) projects and areas with an ability to release capacities of power plants.

According to forecasts, the wind and solar power sources in Vietnam will increase sharply in the period of 2021-2023 to compensate for the electricity shortage due to delayed thermal power projects and By 2025, the total capacity of these sources will reach over 20,000 MW.

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) informed: Recently, there a number of power grid projects for releasing power of solar and wind projects was completed over progress. However, to strengthen the ability of the power grids for releasing power of renewable energy (RE) in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces, EVN proposes to supplement a number of power grid projects in these provinces to the power development planning (PDP).

The Prime Minister has agreed to supplement An Tho wind power project (phase I) with a capacity of 200 MW into Adjusted National Power Development Planning (PDP+). This is a largest wind power project in Vietnam so far.
