On August 15, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung received Mr. Raymond Carlsen, General Director of Scatec Solar Company (Norway). Scatec Solar proposed an investment in the Tri An floating solar power plant project, with a capacity of 1,000 MW.

Sao Mai Group, the Investor of Sao Mai Solar Power Project (SPP) and EVN Electric Power Trading Company have just held the Ceremony to sign the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for Sao Mai SPP with an electricity tariff of 2086 VND/kWh at the point of electricity delivery for 20 years since the date of project commercial operation.

The signing ceremony on Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) from SP Infra Solar Poewer Plant 1 between Electricity Power Trading Company (Electricity of Vietnam - EVN) and Shapoorji Finacial Financial Infrastructure Company Ltd., (India) took place in Hanoi on July 17, 2018.  

In the morning of June 14, 2019, in Cam Lam district (Khanh Hoa province), the representative of the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) and the related units organized to synchronize the first phase (with design capacity of 10 MW) of the solar power project (SPP) of EVNCPC with the national power system.

According to the figure released by the Ministry of Industry and Trade yesterday, there will be varying degrees of power shortages from 2019 to 2025. The most serious shortage will be concentrated in the dry season from 2020 to 2023, with production shortages ranging from 1.5 billion kWh to 5 billion kWh.

Dong Nai People's Committee has just submitted a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) for considering and appraising 8 solar power projects to submit to the Prime Minister for additional approving these projects to the National Power Development Planning (NPDP) up to 2025.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just decided to supplement the Trung Son Solar Power Project (SPP) project to the Power Development Planning of Khanh Hoa province in 2016-2020 period with the vision to 2035.

  Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has officially issued the Circular No16/2017/TT-BCT on grid connected and rooftop solar power development in which regulates the National Solar Power Development Planning (NSPDP) to be made once only. The following updates, additions and corrections for NSPDP are made when adjusting the National Power Development Planning (NPDP). Making, approving and announcing the NSPP are stipulated in the Prime Minister Decision No11/2017/QĐ-TTg on the mechanisms to stimulate developing solar power projects in Vietnam.

With Vietnam set to become a net energy importer in the near future, renewable energy solutions such as solar power are becoming an urgent concern. Tran Van Thanh, executive director of the Vietnam Green Building Council, shared some of his insights into this sector with VIR.
