The Office of Hai Phong City People’s Committee (CPC) informed: Mr. Nguyen Van Tung – Chairman of Hai Phong CPC has just had a working meeting with Storm Capital Partners, a Company from United Kingdom (UK) and Viet Phat Real Estate Development JSC on investment in a floating LNG fired power plant with a capacity of 450 – 600 MW and a total investment capital of US$ 582 million on Hai Phong sea.  

On the occasion of the visit to Vietnam of the UK Prime Minister David Cameron (July 29-30, 2015), Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) and its UK. partner signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation.

The mission of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) had a business trip to the United Kingdom (UK) to collect information, exchange, and learn experiences in operating the power system with many grid-connected renewable energy projects, especially offshore wind power projects. The mission was headed by EVN Deputy General Director Mr. Nguyen Tai Anh (the mission was made based on a partial sponsorship of the British Embassy in Vietnam).

The UK’s Amec Foster Wheeler Energy Limited ( Foster Wheeler) has been hired to outline a master design for the project to expand and upgrade the Dung Quat oil refinery in the central coastal province of Quang Ngai, which is expected to increase its capacity to 8.5 million tonnes per year.

Vietnam’s state-run oil and gas group PetroVietnam announced a bid to entice new investors to the group-led $8 billion Block B-O Mon gas exploitation and pipeline complex following the withdrawal of the US’ oil giant Chevron from the strategic project to fuel future southern gas-fired power plants.

On September 5, 2019in Hanoi, at the meeting with Mr. David Stone, General Director of Vietnam Market of AES Group (United States), Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, the Head of Central Economic Committee said that the AES group would contribute to investing in liquefied natural gas (LNG) fired power projects is very much suitable with the development orientation of Vietnam.

In the afternoon of November 20 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom (UK) organized a conference of partners on implementing the Low Carbon Energy Program for ASEAN.

  On March 22, 2018 in Hanoi, under the witness of Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh and Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Paik Un Gyu, the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and Korean partners as Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd; Doosan  Heavy Industries & Construction Co., Ltd and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) on  the cooperation to develop the Wind Power Pilot and  Offshore Energy Storage System, and the Cooperation Agreement in Power sector.  

The long-delayed Kien Luong thermal power project could be pushed forward as the domestic investor Tan Tao Energy Corporation is seeking partners for it.

On August 9, in Lao PDR, Chairman of the Member Council of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) Duong Quang Thanh and the leaders of Lao enterprises signed the memorandums of understanding (MOU) on cooperation under the witness of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc and General Secretary and President of Lao PDR Thongloun Sisoulith.

Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) informed, a signing ceremony for PSC at 39 & 40/2 lots between PVN and Japanese Partners as  Idemitsu Kosan Company (Idemitsu Kosan Co.Ltd.,) and Sumitomo Corporation has just taken place in Hanoi.

Information from the Office of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee said: that Mr. Cao Tuong Huy - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee just had a working meeting with the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) on researching investment development of offshore wind power projects in this locality.

On the afternoon of February 11, at the Government Office, Deputy Prime Minister  (DPM) Trinh Dinh Dung received a group of the large and experienced enterprises in LNG power projects in the world from USA and South Korean which interest in developing the LNG power projects in Vietnam.
