The Danish partners propose Quang Ninh province to invest in offshore WPPs

 - Information from the Office of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee said: that Mr. Cao Tuong Huy - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee just had a working meeting with the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) on researching investment development of offshore wind power projects in this locality.

At the meeting, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy said that Quang Ninh is currently the power generation center of the country with a diversified power transmission system. In particular, Quang Ninh can produce about 13 GW of offshore wind power. These are comparative advantages to attract investment in developing clean energy and renewable energy. Therefore, in the province, there are many investors studying and surveying wind measurement.

Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with Danish investors to conduct research, survey, and note to avoid duplication with other investors.

According to a survey and assessment by the Institute of Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Quang Ninh has a great potential for wind power development (onshore and offshore) about 13,000 MW along the coast and about 2,300 MW onshore, most concentrated on Co To island. Therefore, in recent years, many investors have come to Quang Ninh to survey and propose to study onshore and offshore wind power projects.

CIP is a renewable energy investor, currently managing 8 investment funds with a capital of over 18 billion USD. CIP has made 30 investments in large-scale energy projects over the world (including a growing portfolio of offshore wind projects) with a total capacity of approximately 30 GW in the US, UK, Germany, Spain, Australia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

It expects that by 2030, CIP will invest about 110 billion USD in renewable energy projects, including offshore wind power projects in Vietnam.
