The 2nd Mekong River Commission (MRC) Summit, hosted in Ho Chi Minh City, started April 2 with an international conference on energy, food and water security co-operation in trans-boundary basins facing climate change.

On November 22, 2018, at the Northwest Solid Waste Treatment Complex in Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment in coordination with Tasco Joint Stock Company Solid started construction of the Tasco - Cu Chi Waste - to -Energy project.

The Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC2), Tin Thanh Group (TTG), Ninh Thuan Agriculture and Renewable Energy Joint Stock Company (NITSA) and Son My Renewable Energy Joint Stock Company (SSC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on a cooperation to invest in and develop biomass power projects in the Mekong Delta region and waste-to-energy projects in Ho Chi Minh city.

Information from the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) said: The investment management activities of PVN in recent times had many positive evolutions.
