The proposal to develop solar PV projects on the water reservoirs of Sơn La and Hoa Binh HPP

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is working with Son La leaders on socio-economic situation of the province.

According to the report of Son La provincial leaders, for implementing Hoa Binh and Son La hydropower plants, Son La People’s Committee directed to complete moving 17,784 households from flooded areas. Regarding the first phase of resettlement project of Son La HPP, it was only to move people to the new housings, so that it must be to supplement infrastructure and support production to improve living standard of the people.

For Hoa Binh HPP, due to the low investment level of the three small resettlement projects, the automobile roads to center of  5/46 communes have not enough hardness and the poverty rate in 46 communes is still enough high as 35%.

PM assigned Ministry of Planning and Investment, Minister of Finance and relevant agencies to arrange funds to resolve these problems so that no longer the situation: “The people have no electricity and live in poor condition while on their territory HPP developed”.

Son La leaders showed that on the territory of the province there are 13,000 ha of Son La HPP reservoir and 7,900 ha of Hoa Binh HPP reservoir. Therefore, Son La PPC would like to ask permission and assistance from the government to invest solar PV projects on the water reservoirs of these HPPs.

PM assigned Minister of Industry and Trade to study and report to PM about the issue.
