The project, part of Vietnam’s Power Development Plan VIII, is invested by EVN and managed directly by Power Project Management Board No. 3, with a total investment of nearly VND 4,000 billion. The plant will consist of two generating units with a total capacity of 200 MW. The first unit is expected to begin operation in the third quarter of 2027, with full project completion scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027. Once operational, the plant will produce an average of 113 million kWh annually, contributing additional capacity for the southern region, optimizing power system operations, reducing CO₂ emissions, and extending the lifespan of the existing facility.

Earlier, in December 2024, EVN commenced construction of Hiếu Liêm Bridge – a key supporting infrastructure for the project, which will also improve local transportation once completed.

EVN has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safe, on-schedule, and high-quality implementation of the project, while adhering to environmental and social requirements, and maintaining close coordination with authorities, local communities, and contractors.

The existing Trị An Hydropower Plant was constructed in the 1980s with support from the former Soviet Union and completed in 1991, with a capacity of 400 MW. Beyond electricity generation, it also plays a vital role in water supply, salinity control, and flood regulation for downstream areas of the Đồng Nai River./.
