TKV Chairman of the Members’ Council Meets Partners Across Australia’s Coal Supply Chain

Connecting technology and promoting innovation

On August 10, TKV Chairman Ngô Hoàng Ngân attended the Tech-Connect Forum in Sydney, held as part of the State Visit to Australia by General Secretary and President Tô Lâm. The forum provided TKV with an opportunity to access scientific and technology ecosystems, explore technology transfer and human-resource ​​​​​​training, and pursue pilot projects in areas aligned with the Group’s development strategy, including smart mining, automation, mine water management and improved mineral processing efficiency. These efforts are expected to contribute to greener mining practices, more efficient use of resources and the development of a circular economy model.

On August 11, Chairman Ngô Hoàng Ngân joined the delegation led by the Minister of Industry and Trade to attend the first session of the Vietnam-Australia Ministerial Dialogue on Energy and Minerals. The inaugural session was of particular significance, marking the official launch of the Ministerial Dialogue mechanism on energy and minerals, one of the sector-specific cooperation mechanisms established under the Vietnam–Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It represents the first high-level policy dialogue between the two ministries, providing a regular and candid channel for addressing practical issues in strategic mineral supply chains, attracting investment in deeper processing, strengthening governance capacity and promoting cooperation on the energy transition.

At the dialogue, the two sides discussed key directions for cooperation. In particular, the two ministers emphasized promoting investment by companies from both countries in mineral exploration, mining and deep-processing projects in Australia and Vietnam, coupled with advanced technology transfer, environmental protection and the application of ESG standards. The two sides also agreed to strengthen support for mineral resource management capacity, develop quality standards and traceability systems, and provide human-resource training.

TKV’s participation in the Vietnam-Australia Ministerial Dialogue on Energy and Minerals also provided an opportunity for the Group to engage directly with Australian agencies, companies and partners on energy and mineral markets, while connecting with coal mining and trading companies to explore cooperation opportunities and expand stable, long-term coal supply sources to meet domestic demand.

Expanding cooperation and diversifying coal supply sources

The TKV delegation works with AVRA International DMCC and visits the Callide coal mine.

Following the high-level diplomatic activities, Chairman Ngô Hoàng Ngân’s working programme focused on meetings with partners across Australia’s coal supply chain, including HMS, AVRA International DMCC, Wel-hunt and TerraCom Limited. Discussions covered market developments, supply sources, coal quality, production capacity, coal blending capabilities and potential cooperation arrangements suited to TKV’s import requirements.

The TKV delegation works with Welhunt and at the TerraCom coal mine.

Through these meetings, TKV reaffirmed its commitment to proactively expanding international cooperation, diversifying coal supply sources, strengthening links with reputable coal mining and trading companies, and exploring cooperation opportunities in the energy and minerals sectors. These engagements provide a basis for TKV to further develop coal import, processing and blending plans in line with domestic demand, contributing to the diversification of supply sources, improved efficiency of the coal supply chain and the reliable supply of coal for power generation and other domestic consumers, thereby supporting the national energy security objective./.
