Vinacomin and Chinese partner discuss coal imports and supply optimization

 - At the headquarters of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Group (Vinacomin), Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Vinacomin’s Board of Members, Ngo Hoang Ngan, held a meeting with a delegation from China’s Luhai Group to discuss cooperation opportunities in imported coal supply, contributing to national energy security and improving the Group’s production and business efficiency.

During the meeting, both sides discussed orientations for establishing a long-term strategic partnership based on mutual trust, compliance with the laws of both countries, and the development strategies of the two groups. Discussions focused on solutions to diversify imported coal sources and ensure a stable supply to meet domestic demand.

Representatives of Luhai Group introduced their capacity to supply various types of coal for power generation and industrial production, including bituminous coal, sub-bituminous coal, and anthracite coal from major markets such as Australia, Indonesia, and China. In particular, the Chinese partner proposed solutions for coal stockpiling during favorable market conditions, helping secure supply availability and optimize input costs for Vinacomin.

The two sides also discussed technical requirements for imported coal, including calorific value, ash content, volatile matter, and compliance with technical standards required by thermal power plants. Vinacomin expressed particular interest in management and storage practices during the stockpiling process to maintain coal quality.

In addition, technical cooperation in coal blending to meet the operational requirements of different power plants was identified as a promising area. Representatives of Luhai Group expressed their readiness to share experience, provide technical experts, and introduce modern warehouse management solutions to enhance the efficiency of Vinacomin’s coal supply chain.

The two sides also exchanged views on transportation optimization solutions, including the use of large-capacity vessels, to reduce logistics costs and improve loading and unloading efficiency at Vietnamese ports, including the Cam Pha port area.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Vinacomin’s Board of Members Ngo Hoang Ngan highly appreciated the cooperation proposals from Luhai Group. He affirmed that VINACOMIN always attaches importance to expanding partnerships with reputable international partners to ensure a stable, high-quality, and cost-effective coal supply.

Mr. Ngo Hoang Ngan expressed his confidence that strengthening exchanges and expanding cooperation between Vinacomin and Luhai Group would not only open up new opportunities in coal trading but also create a foundation for sharing management experience, applying advanced technical solutions, and promoting long-term cooperation between the two groups.

Such cooperation is expected to contribute to improving operational efficiency and ensuring a reliable energy supply to support Vietnam’s socio-economic development.

For its part, Luhai Group committed to fully complying with legal requirements, ensuring product quality, and supporting Vinacomin in developing modern coal supply chain management, storage, and operational solutions.

Both sides agreed to strengthen the exchange of management experience, apply advanced technical solutions, and promote long-term cooperation./.
