TKV Reports Stable August Operations, Sets September 2026 Production Targets

 - In August 2026, the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) maintained stable production and business operations. Most key targets were broadly achieved, while total revenue, pre-tax profit, state budget contributions and investment value exceeded the monthly plan.

TKV operated amid continued geopolitical tensions and the conflict in the Middle East, fluctuations in energy prices, logistics costs and input material prices, as well as lower coal demand for power generation. Planned maintenance at several mineral and chemical plants, the ongoing energy transition and emissions-reduction requirements also continued to put pressure on the coal industry. Heavy rainfall and Typhoon No. 4 (Narra) caused flooding and landslides in several areas, affecting coal and mineral mining operations.

Despite these challenges, TKV continued to maintain high production levels and implement measures to support the Government’s economic growth targets. Across the Group, strict operational discipline and coordinated production measures helped ensure that most key targets were broadly achieved.

Strong Production Performance in the First Eight Months

In August, raw coal production was estimated at 2.666 million tonnes, equivalent to 100.2% of the monthly plan, bringing the eight-month total to approximately 25.211 million tonnes. Processed coal production reached an estimated 3.066 million tonnes, or 101.3% of the monthly plan, with the eight-month total at approximately 25.981 million tonnes.

Coal sales reached approximately 3.511 million tonnes in August, bringing the eight-month total to 35.117 million tonnes, equivalent to 112.8% of the same period last year.

Mineral production and business activities remained broadly stable. Prices of key products such as copper cathodes and alumina remained favorable and showed an upward trend, although production of some products was affected by scheduled plant maintenance.

In August, alumina production reached approximately 100,000 tonnes, bringing the eight-month total to 931,000 tonnes. Alumina sales reached 113,340 tonnes, with the eight-month total at 860,330 tonnes.

Copper concentrate production reached 6,527 tonnes in August and approximately 73,996 tonnes in the first eight months, while sales totaled 3,000 tonnes in August and 23,955 tonnes in the first eight months. Copper cathode production reached 2,705 tonnes in August and 19,133 tonnes in the first eight months, while sales totaled 2,400 tonnes and 19,593 tonnes, respectively.

TKV also produced 720 tonnes of refined zinc in August, bringing the eight-month total to approximately 6,061 tonnes. Steel billet production reached approximately 11,705 tonnes in August and 100,039 tonnes in the first eight months, while sales totaled 8,000 tonnes and 102,766 tonnes, respectively.

Electricity generation reached 614 million kWh in August, bringing the eight-month total to approximately 7.189 billion kWh.

TKV produced 5,000 tonnes of explosives in August, with the eight-month total reaching 46,605 tonnes. Explosive supplies reached 7,500 tonnes in August and approximately 65,813 tonnes in the first eight months. Ammonium nitrate production totaled 3,000 tonnes in August, affected by a planned 25-day major maintenance shutdown at the Thai Binh Ammonium Nitrate Plant. Eight-month production reached 113,921 tonnes, while sales totaled 12,000 tonnes in August and 119,543 tonnes cumulatively.

TKV also continued to implement measures on occupational safety and health, environmental protection and workplace safety across the Group.

Revenue, Profit and Workers’ Incomes

TKV’s production and business operations remained broadly stable, helping ensure employment and income for its workforce. Average monthly wages in August were estimated at VND 19.9 million per employee, equivalent to 101% of the monthly plan and 106.5% of the annual plan. The eight-month average reached approximately VND 19.83 million per employee per month, or 106.2% of the annual plan.

Revenue in August was estimated at VND 13.921 trillion, bringing the eight-month total to approximately VND 124.985 trillion. Pre-tax profit was estimated at VND 421 billion in August, with the eight-month total reaching approximately VND 3.983 trillion.

TKV’s contribution to the state budget was estimated at VND 1.678 trillion in August, equivalent to 121.6% of the monthly plan, bringing the eight-month total to approximately VND 18.963 trillion.

September Outlook and Production Plan

In September, geopolitical tensions and the conflict in the Middle East are expected to remain complex, while oil prices, freight rates, input material costs and international logistics may continue to fluctuate unpredictably. Weather conditions are also expected to remain irregular due to the impacts of climate change.

In addition, several thermal power generating units will undergo scheduled maintenance extending into September, which is expected to affect power generation output.

TKV will focus on firm management measures and accelerated production to achieve its 2026 production and business targets while ensuring stable incomes for employees.

Key production targets for September include:

- Raw coal: 2.668 million tonnes;

- Processed coal: 3.048 million tonnes; coal sales: 3.731 million tonnes;

- Alumina: 122,000 tonnes; sales: 125,927 tonnes;

- Copper concentrate: 9,000 tonnes; sales: 2,000 tonnes;

- Refined zinc: 664 tonnes; sales: 870 tonnes;

- Copper cathodes: 3,000 tonnes; sales: 2,600 tonnes;

- Steel billets: 16,065 tonnes; sales: 10,000 tonnes;

- Electricity generation: approximately 567 million kWh;

- Explosives: 6,500 tonnes produced and 8,750 tonnes supplied.

TKV’s consolidated revenue for September 2026 is projected at approximately VND 14.469 trillion./.
