Vinacomin and JOGMEC (Japan) agree on the 2026 cooperation plan

 - On March 12 in Hanoi, Vietnam, National Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Corporation (Vinacomin) signed the 2026 implementation plan under the cooperation agreement on safety technology training and coal mining with the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC).

Before the signing ceremony, Vinacomin Deputy General Director Tran Hai Binh held a working session with the JOGMEC delegation to review cooperation results and finalize plans for 2026.

At the meeting, Binh expressed his appreciation for the long-standing support from the Japanese government and JOGMEC in training and technology transfer for Vietnam’s coal industry. The cooperation program between Vinacomin and JOGMEC, launched in 2002, has delivered practical results through training activities conducted both in Japan and Vietnam.

To date, more than 2,300 trainees from Vinacomin have received training at the Kushiro Training Center in Japan. At the same time, over 165,000 Vinacomin engineers and workers have participated in training programs organized in Vietnam with JOGMEC’s support.

Speaking at the event, Arai Eiichi, Executive Director of Coal Development at JOGMEC, said the organization considers TKV an important partner in international cooperation programs on mining technology and training. He expressed JOGMEC’s intention to strengthen further collaboration in areas such as mechanized underground mining, mine equipment automation, ventilation and gas management, and mine rescue technologies.

Following the discussions, representatives of Vinacomin and JOGMEC signed the 2026 implementation plan for the cooperation program.

Under the plan, 61 trainees from Vinacomin will participate in specialized training courses in Japan covering mine management and safety, mechanized mining technology, automation and mining equipment, ventilation and gas management, and mine rescue technology.

In addition, practical training programs in Vietnam are expected to be organized at Ha Lam and Ha Long coal mines to further enhance operational skills and safety for Vinacomin engineers and workers./.
