Earlier, on November 9, 2025, in Vientiane (Laos), the Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Minister of Energy and Mines of Laos signed an intergovernmental cooperation agreement on coal and electricity trade. This strategic document lays the foundation for long-term cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy and minerals.
Speaking at the ceremony, TKV’s General Director Vu Anh Tuan emphasized that TKV always values and prioritizes cooperation with Lao enterprises-Vietnam’s close neighbor, with a long-standing special friendship. He noted that the signing of the contract not only carries economic significance but also strengthens mutual trust and reinforces strategic cooperation between businesses of both nations. TKV is committed to ensuring transparent, effective, and sustainable coordination with its Lao partners throughout the implementation process.
Mr. Phonesack Vilaysack, General Director of Phonesack Group, highly praised TKV’s capability and reputation, affirming his commitment to strictly fulfilling the contract terms and expressing confidence that cooperation between the two sides will continue to expand across various sectors.
The signing of this coal purchase agreement with Laos is an important milestone that enhances TKV’s international standing while fostering strong, long-term cooperative ties between Vietnamese and Lao enterprises. It also underscores the Group’s determination to diversify its commercial activities, secure stable coal supplies, and flexibly adapt to the evolving regional energy market—opening up promising opportunities for effective and sustainable cooperation in the new development phase./.
