TKV Chairs 2nd 2025 Steering Committee Meeting on Coal Supply for Power Generation. |
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Head of TKV's Coal Business Department, said that in the first 9 months of the year, TKV has supplied about 28.877 million tons of coal to EVN's thermal power plants, ensuring enough fuel for power generation, especially in the peak months of the dry season. As a result, most power plants maintain coal inventories at a safe level.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai affirmed that TKV is implementing many solutions to improve the quality and stabilize coal supply: ensuring sufficient output according to demand, especially in the dry season; applying blending techniques to uniform quality; strictly controlling the stages of blending and exporting coal; at the same time, promoting the production of high-quality coal, suitable for EVN's needs.
During the meeting, the member units of TKV, EVN and the 19th Army Corps discussed the need to receive coal in 2025, the coordination mechanism between the parties, and at the same time exchanged the orientation of the coal use plan for EVN's power plants in 2026.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Son Hai, Deputy General Director of EVN, highly appreciated the effective cooperation of TKV and the 19th Army Corps, and noted that the quality of coal has improved significantly compared to previous years. EVN recommends that power generation units strengthen coordination with coal suppliers to adjust plans promptly, proactively forecast and flexibly balance inventory, thereby better supporting coal suppliers. EVN also hopes that TKV and the 19th Army Corps will continue to look for high-quality, stable and long-term coal sources, helping to improve operational efficiency and reduce coal wastage at power plants.
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Huy Nam, Deputy General Director of TKV, expressed his gratitude for the coordination and support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, EVN and related units, and emphasized the importance of timely information exchange and smooth coordination in the operation of coal supply. He suggested that EVN direct power plants to cooperate in receiving coal to increase inventory to the maximum in the period from September to December 2025, contributing to reducing storage pressure for TKV. At the same time, limiting the unexpected adjustment of the monthly plan causes difficulties for TKV's coal production, import and blending activities.
Mr. Nguyen Huy Nam's speech summarized the key issues, demonstrating the spirit of demand and responsibility of TKV in ensuring the supply of coal for power generation. TKV is committed to absorbing opinions and strengthening close cooperation with EVN to better meet the demand for coal in the national power system.
