Northeast Corporation establishes a stable coal supply mechanism for EVN’s thermal power plants

The cooperation agreement aims to establish a comprehensive, long-term, and effective coordination mechanism to supply coal to EVN’s thermal power plants. Northeast Corporation commits to ensuring a stable coal supply that meets schedule, quality, and pricing regulations.

Both parties agreed to establish a Steering Committee to directly manage coal supply operations for power production, including activities related to import, blending, processing, transportation, receipt, and utilization of coal for electricity generation.
EVN will direct its power generation units to closely coordinate by providing technical information and coal demand. Meanwhile, Northeast Corporation will proactively prepare supply sources, transportation plans, and all necessary conditions to fulfill its commitments.
In his speech at the signing ceremony, the Chairman of EVN’s Board of Members emphasized that the cooperation agreement between EVN and Northeast Corporation represents a crucial step toward professionalizing the responsibilities of both parties and strengthening national energy security. He urged both sides to promptly complete all necessary procedures, maintain effective coordination mechanisms, and ensure unified operations, monitoring, and the timely resolution of any issues that arise.
Previously, on November 6th, 2025, EVN and Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) also signed a cooperation agreement for the long-term supply of imported coal to EVN’s thermal power plants.
The cooperation agreements between EVN, TKV, and Northeast Corporation concretize the Prime Minister’s Directive No. 30/TTg dated October 6th, 2025, on “Strengthening State Management of Production, Trading, and Supply of Coal for Power Generation in the New Situation.”/.
