Welcoming the RusHydro delegation to Vietnam, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc highly appreciated the company's commitment to strengthening energy cooperation with Vietnam.
He emphasized that Vietnam has always valued and remembered the significant support provided by the former Soviet Union and, subsequently, the Russian Federation in the development of the country's energy sector. Landmark projects such as the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant and the Tri An Hydropower Plant have made substantial contributions to Vietnam's industrialization, modernization, and socio-economic development.
The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister noted that, as Vietnam enters a new stage of development, intending to maintain high economic growth, the country's energy demand will continue to increase. Vietnam is therefore pursuing a diversified, modern and secure energy system while accelerating the upgrading and modernization of its existing energy infrastructure.
He stressed that Vietnam places great importance on upgrading hydropower facilities originally built with Soviet and Russian support. These projects represent valuable historical, technical and economic assets. Vietnam also looks forward to continuing to receive technological support and operational experience from Russian partners.
Expressing his appreciation for the meeting, Mr. Sergey Machekhin said that RusHydro is currently one of Russia's leading producers of clean electricity, with operations spanning hydropower, wind, solar and geothermal energy, as well as electricity transmission and power market activities.
He affirmed RusHydro's readiness to continue sharing its expertise and advanced technologies with Vietnamese partners in the operation, maintenance and modernization of energy facilities, particularly hydropower plants, in order to improve operational efficiency and long-term reliability.

RusHydro also expressed its willingness to cooperate with Vietnam in developing emerging energy solutions, including energy storage technologies, to support the country's sustainable energy transition and enhance the efficient utilization of energy resources.
Welcoming RusHydro's proposals, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc said that the compatibility of technologies and equipment, together with the extensive experience shared by experts from both countries, provides a solid foundation for expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in the modernization and upgrading of energy projects originally constructed with Soviet and Russian assistance.
He requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to work closely with RusHydro to explore practical cooperation opportunities and identify suitable projects for implementation.
The Vietnamese Government, he affirmed, will continue to provide favorable policy and institutional conditions for enterprises from both countries to strengthen cooperation across the entire project lifecycle, from research and engineering to project implementation, thereby enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring system safety, and supporting the sustainable development of Vietnam's energy sector./.
