ClimateWorks Foundation Strengthens Industry Associations to Advance Viet Nam's Energy Transition

The forum brought together more than 200 representatives from government agencies, international organizations, research institutes, businesses, investors and energy experts to discuss solutions for promoting solar power and battery energy storage during the 2026-2030 period.

International Experience in Strengthening Industry Associations

At the forum, Mr. Shoon So Oo, Deputy Director of ClimateWorks Foundation, delivered a short speech entitled "Strengthening Solar and Energy Storage Associations," highlighting international experience in building effective industry associations to support the global energy transition.

According to ClimateWorks Foundation, its Global Energy Transition Initiative (GETI) is working with partners in multiple countries to strengthen the capacity of solar and energy storage associations. The initiative focuses on developing a shared industry vision, promoting evidence-based policy dialogue, enhancing technical capacity, facilitating international knowledge exchange, and improving public awareness of the benefits of clean energy.

ClimateWorks Foundation is currently supporting industry associations across several ASEAN countries, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam.

Industry Associations as a Bridge for Energy Transition

The 6th Vietnam Clean Energy Forum brought together more than 200 representatives from government agencies, international organizations, research institutes, businesses, investors and energy experts in Ho Chi Minh City.

ClimateWorks Foundation emphasized that the successful development of the solar and energy storage sectors requires close collaboration among policymakers, project developers, investors, technical experts and electricity consumers.

In this context, industry associations play a critical role in bringing stakeholders together, representing the voice of the business community, facilitating policy dialogue, sharing knowledge, and providing practical recommendations to support the formulation and implementation of clean energy policies.

The Foundation also stressed that effective energy transition depends on strong cooperation among government agencies, businesses, research institutions and the investment community to create an enabling environment for renewable energy and battery energy storage development.

During the speech, ClimateWorks Foundation identified Viet Nam as one of its priority markets for solar power and battery energy storage, citing the country's strong economic growth, rising electricity demand and the Government's commitment to green energy development.

The Foundation acknowledged Viet Nam's progress in improving its policy framework and implementing the Revised Power Development Plan VIII, while emphasizing that closer cooperation among government agencies, businesses, investors and industry associations will be essential to attracting investment, fostering market development and enhancing the competitiveness of the energy sector in the years ahead.
