Promoting the Vietnam –Laos Energy Cooperation

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations and the 40th anniversary of signing the Vietnam-Laos friendship and cooperation Treaty, in Da Nang city, Vietnam MOIT in collaboration with Laos MOIT and MOEM held the conference on the development cooperation of the Vietnam – Laos Industry and Trade, Energy and Mines sectors in 2017 from Sept. 29 to Oct.01.
Mr. Khemmani Pholsena, the Minister of MOIT; Mr. Khammany Inthirath, the Minister of MOEM (Laos) and Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of MOIT (Vietnam) were the Co-Chair of the conference.
At the conference, sides assessed the results on Vietnam – Laos cooperation on industry, trade and energy in recent years, among them the highlight achievement is signing the MOU between the two governments on Vietnam – Laos cooperation for developing the projects of hydropower plants in Laos and power transmission grids from these hydropower plants to Vietnam.
At the conference, the two sides also agreed to continuously implement the measures to strengthen cooperation and support for approving the plan to thoroughly overcome the break-down on Sekaman 3 hydropower plant; speed up the projects for developing power plants and interconnection grids for power purchase between the two countries.
