Deploying construction of 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project

Ceremony to launch construction of the 500 kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line (section through Yen Bai province).

The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project is a national key project approved by the Prime Minister for investment, with a total investment of over 7.410 trillion VND.

The project consists of a 229.5 km-long double-circuit 500kV transmission line with 468 tower foundations, passing through four provinces: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, and Vinh Phuc. The starting point of the line is the 500kV Lao Cai substation, and the endpoint is the 500kV Vinh Yen substation.

When put into operation, the project will release about 2,000 MW of capacity from hydropower plants in the Northwest region and neighboring provinces to the national grid, while increasing the ability to import electricity from China when Vietnam needs it.

The project contributes to improving connectivity between regions in the power system, ensuring safe and stable operation, reducing power loss on the transmission grid, and improving the efficiency of EVN's electricity production and business.

The project not only ensures energy sources to serve the province's medium and long-term development goals but also contributes to the local budget, creating job opportunities for businesses and workers.

Mr. Pham Hong Phuong, Deputy General Director of EVN, delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Hong Phuong - Deputy General Director of EVN said: During the project implementation, EVN received attention and direction from the Government, ministries and branches, along with close support from the authorities and people of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc provinces, contributing to speeding up the work of compensation, support and resettlement.

To ensure progress, EVN hopes to continue to receive support from local authorities in completing the handover of the site, helping investors to synchronously implement construction along the entire route. At the same time, EVN requires Power Project Management Board 1 and contractors to comply with quality and environmental standards, focus resources, and accelerate progress to complete the project as planned.

At the ceremony, representatives of contractors participating in the construction and installation affirmed their commitment to mobilize maximum resources, determined to complete the project on schedule, ensure quality, and contribute to completing the entire project (before September 2, 2025).
