At the meeting, Mr. Dogan Karadeniz – representing Karpowership – introduced the LNG-to-power floating power plant model, which is considered a cost-competitive investment solution. This model offers the advantage of rapid deployment thanks to a ready-built fleet, eliminating the need for a separate power plant or LNG storage construction. It also provides operational flexibility to meet demand. The vessels are capable of stable operation in Category 4 storms and can reconnect to the power grid within just two hours after an outage.

Vietnam is currently in a dynamic development phase, with electricity demand expected to continue rising sharply. As such, Karpowership has identified Vietnam as a top-priority market in Asia for its floating power plant solution.

EVN Deputy General Director Ngô Sơn Hải acknowledged and thanked Karpowership for introducing the model, and stated that EVN will continue to study the feasibility of the solution. Both sides agreed to maintain information exchange and coordinate in assessing actual conditions to explore potential future cooperation.

The floating power plant was built by Karpowership.

Karpowership is a subsidiary of Karadeniz Holding (Turkey), specializing in the development and operation of floating power plants (Powerships). The company currently owns 42 vessels, 11 of which are already in operation across various countries, with a total installed capacity of 7 GW. These vessels are fully equipped with transformers and grid connection systems and can run on LNG or multiple types of fuel, aligning with the global trend toward flexible power generation and sustainable energy transition./.
