In many recent years, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) cooperated with most international organizations, institutions, and large international energy groups including the government, non-government, and energy corporations of the United State of America to meet the actual development requirements of Vietnam national power system. These substantive and practical relationships have contributed to the strong development of Vietnam's electricity industry in recent times.

Vietnam Coal and minerals Industry Group (Vinacomin) informed that since the beginning of 2019 the group has produce around 5.5 million tons of the raw coal and sold nearly 5.4 million tons of clean coal, of which 4.0 million tons for power sector.

At the online briefing meeting for executing production in April 2017, Mr. Dang Thanh Hai, Vinacomin CEO asked the subsidiaries to actively work with power customers for agreeing to regulate reasonable coal prices, strengthen management of resources and product quality, and reduce the rate of losses in mining by 5%...

The Prime Minister has improved the project on restructuring power sector in 2016 – 2020 with orientation up to 2025.

On November 4, 2015, in Da Nang city, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) held the conference "Shaping Vietnam’s Sustainable Power Sector Development" to summarize the achievements in the process of renewing power sector and discuss the measures for strengthening the participation of the international donors and various economic sectors to Vietnam's Power Sector Development in future. Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Hoang Trung Hai attended and spoke at the Conference.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a program on supporting policy development to improve the power sector from 2014 to 2016, with a US$200 million investment loaned from the World Bank.
