Petrovietnam (PVN) has just decided to nominate Mr. Nguyen Quynh Lam – PVN Vice General Director to the position of Vietsovpetro General Director, an important position, because Vietsovpetro is the member with the highest contribution to the state budget of PVN. The previous Vietsovpetro General Director Mr. Tu Thanh Nghia has been transferred to PVN Southern Representative Office "for health reasons".

In Vung Tau city has been held the signing ceremony on comprehensive cooperation between the Singapore Enterprize Energy & RE Global Solution and the associate of PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC) and Vietsovpetro (VSP) to develop an offshore wind power project in Vietnam. The project is located in 30 km from Binh Thuan sea coast and has a capacity of 1200 MW, total investment level of US$ 3.5 billion. The investment of the project will be diverged in two phases as 600 MW in 2018 - 2021 and 600 MW in 2021 – 2023.

According to information from PVN, on November 30, 2016 when conducting seam test for the second object at Bach Ho – 47 exploratory drilling  well, Vietsovpetro had discovered a new oil flow.

Tam Dao 05 lift off rig with a localization rate of 39% as a largest offshore project made in Vietnam so far can operate in condition of above 12 degree storm. After 30 month manufcturing the rig has been handed over to Vietsopetro investor.

The 46th session of vietsovpetro joint venture council has recently finished successully witha target to fulfill crude oil exploitation plan of no less than 5,040 million tons in 2016.

A ceremony on signing service contracts for gas projects have been signed between Petrovietnam (PVN), Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV Gas) and Vietsovpetro took place in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province.

The Vietnam-Russia Joint Venture Vietsovpetro will exploit an additional 23 oil wells and make upgrade to nine others as part of the efforts to ensure safe exploiting activities and fulfill its set plan.

A ceremony was held in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on December 13th to launch Tam Dao 05 offshore oil rig, the largest ever locally-manufactured jack-up rig.

Morning December 13, 2015, in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) held a launch ceremony of the Tam Dao 05 Drilling rig for Vietnam - Russia Joint Venture Corporation (Vietsovpetro) East Sea offshore petroleum development. Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai attended the ceremony.

On December 7, 2015 Vietnam - Russia Joint Venture Corporation (Vietsovpetro) held a ceremony for pinning the project board, summarizing emulation of building works and putting the drilling rig ThTC-02 at the White Rabbit field into operation.
