The rig is able to drill up to a depth of 9000m, and stand severe environment and weather conditions.
Tam Dao 05 90 water meter lift off rig as the first and national key project on making petroleum drilling rigs has a 12,000 ton weight of structure and equipment. This project technically and technologically specifies by design, manufacture, installation and launch, and super long and super heavy dimensions. It has the high complex and interdisciplinary features and won recognition from American Bureau of Shipping (ARS).
The successful manufacture of the rig has brought Vietnam to the list of a few number of nations in the world capable to make the lift off petroleum drilling rigs, created for Vietnam a new industrial product line and helped the Stock-joint Company for Petroleum Rig Manufacture (PV Shipyard) proactively towards making lift off 120 water meter rigs with a 18,000 ton weight of structure and equipment to meet the requirements of petroleum exploration and exploitation of Vietnam Oil and Gas Industry.
Tam Dao 05 Rig is the second project after Tam Dao 03 handed over for Vietsovpetro to successfully use in recent four years. This project implemented by PV Shipyard in package from design based on JU-2000E model of American Fried and Goldman companies to manufacture, construction and installation. The rig is able to drill up to a depth of 9000m, and stand severe environment and weather conditions. In the past, such a rig was completely imported.
Regarding socio-economic meaning, with a value of US$ 230 billion the project has saved a currency amount of US$ 76 billion, and created a lot of jobs for domestic labors.
After successful manufacturing Tam Dao 03 and Tam Dao 05, there was in the country formed a system of machinery, equipment, material, spare parts suppliers for rig and ship manufacturing sector, in particular and mechanical industry, in general.
The successful achievement also confirms an ability to open a great promising new production field for economic development and create a premise toward for rig export to regional and international markets.
