Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee has just signed a Decision approving the policy of investment in Nam Binh 1 wind power project for Nam Binh Wind Power Company, with an investment of VND 1,023.9 billion. This project has a capacity of 30 MW, 25 years operating time.

Siemens will supply 16 direct-drive wind turbines to the 50 MW wind power plant in  Hokkaido Japan, commercial operation scheduled for 2018 and is the first project with the customer J-Wind Setana.

On September 12, 2015, a Preparatory Conference for establishment of the Medium and Small Hydropower - Green Energy Association (MSHP-GEA) took place in Hanoi under the chairmanship of Mr. Tran Viet Ngai, the President of Vietnam Energy Association (VEA), with participation of the VEA Steering  Committee members, ministries, agencies and hydropower, renewable energy enterprises.

The first wind power plants in Soc Trang province, including Lac Hoa wind power, Quoc Vinh wind power and wind power No. 7 have just been closed by the Southern Power System Dispatch Center (A2) and the investors have successful energizing.

On December 12, in Ninh Thuan province, the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) held a ceremony of starting out the power supply system for constructing Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). In this paper, the author will preliminarily evaluate the net capacity factor of a 600 MW offshore wind farm if it is developed in offshore water zones inVietnam, using wind turbines with a rated power of 10 MW (typical for the development trend of current wind power technology). As well as evaluate the change in capacity factor of this wind farm during the year. Does it bring any benefits to the power system in Vietnam or not?

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has just sent a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade on EVN expectation to reduce a large capacity of the wind power projects in 2021.

In Vung Tau city has been held the signing ceremony on comprehensive cooperation between the Singapore Enterprize Energy & RE Global Solution and the associate of PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC) and Vietsovpetro (VSP) to develop an offshore wind power project in Vietnam. The project is located in 30 km from Binh Thuan sea coast and has a capacity of 1200 MW, total investment level of US$ 3.5 billion. The investment of the project will be diverged in two phases as 600 MW in 2018 - 2021 and 600 MW in 2021 – 2023.

Phu Cuong Group, GE (US) and Mainstream Group (Ireland) have signed an investment cooperation agreement on wind power project in Soc Trang province with a capacity up to 800 MW and a total investment of about US$ 2 billion.
