Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) informed: Recently, there a number of power grid projects for releasing power of solar and wind projects was completed over progress. However, to strengthen the ability of the power grids for releasing power of renewable energy (RE) in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces, EVN proposes to supplement a number  of power grid projects in these provinces to the power development planning (PDP).

The Prime Minister has agreed to allow adjusting and supplementing several 500 kV power grid projects.

In 2016, Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) has powered 619 power grid projects with a total investment level of about VND 6,548 billion. Among these projects there are many important projects.

The Prime Minister has approved the Draft agreement  between Vietnam’ Government and the German Reconstruction Credit Institute (KFW) on an € 65 million loan for the project: "Smart power grids -  Transmission efficiency (stage 1)".

The Central Power Corporation and Finland’s ABB Oy Company launched mini Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system projects in the central and Central Highlands regions with the aim to develop a smart power grid there.

On November 12th, in Ha Noi, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and World Bank (WB) had signed a credit loan agreement of  $500 millions for “Transmission Efficiency Project” of National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT).

On January 31, the unit #1 of the Duyen Hai 1 TPP (622.5MW) was successfully synchronized to the National Power System.

At 18.00 on 23 May 2017, Unit#1 of Thai Binh1 Thermal Power Plant (TPP) has successfully connected to the National Power System.

On April 19, 2014 at Quan Lan Commune, (Van Don District, Quang Ninh Province), Quang Ninh provincal people committee(PPC), Electricity of  Vietnam (EVN) and Northern Power Corporation (EVN NPC) held the starting construction ceremony of Power grid project for powering Quan Lan, Minh Chau, Ban Sen, Ngoc Vung, Thang Loi Island Communes (Van Don District) by National Electricity Network.

According to the National Steering Committee on Power Development, currently, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has a lot of power grid projects to be behind schedule due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the first 6 months of 2016, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has completed and started to construct 110 and 72 respectively 110-500 kV power grid projects. The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVN NPT) has just held a starting ceremony for an unconstrained loan of US$170 million from Nippon Export Investment Insurance (NEXI) for Vinh Tan Power Center – Song May turn – Tan Uyen transmission line investment. It is the result of over a year of active preparation for lending procedures between the sides.

On July 12, in Hanoi, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), had a working with Mr. Stephan Opitz - General Director in charge of Europe - Asia regions of the German Reconstruction Bank (KfW). At the meeting, the two sides exchanged difficulties in arranging capital for the projects.

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) informed that to the end of Sept. 2016, the group has completed 182 power grid projects including 7, 29 and 146 projects of 500 kV, 220 kV and 110 kV respectively.

Germany committed to finance Vietnam EUR 350 million for implementing Project “Power grid Efficiency into medium and small cities”. The fund divided to EUR 200 million for stage I and EUR 150 million for stage II.
