The Prime Minister has issued a decision on a number of solutions to handle and use ash, slag from thermal power plants as raw material for  building materials production.  

The Prime Minister (PM) has just solved the problems on handling ash and slag in some of BOT coal fired thermal power plants (TPP) as flows: Hai Duong, Vinh Tan 1 projects apply the regulations on slag ground at the time of signing BOT contracts; Nam Dinh 1, Nghi Son 2, Van Phong 1, Vung Ang 2, Vinh Tan 3 and Song Hau 2 projects maintain the areas of slag grounds as approved in the feasibility study reports.

On March 25, in Binh Thuan, Deputy General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) - Nguyen Tai Anh chaired a conference to "promote the ash and slag sale at EVN's coal-fired power plants".

Directorate General for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMQ) under Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has announced the National Standards TCVN 12249:2018 on using the slag and ash of thermal power plants (TPPs) for aggrandizement materials with a goal to resolve the stagnant ash and slag on damping grounds of TPPs.

PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Company (PVC) and the consortium of bidders - PVC-PT / MIE / Viettronics have signed a contract for design, materials and equipment supply, installation and test operation of the ash and slag discharging system of Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant (TPP).

Under the guidance of the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Hoang Trung Hai, the coal-fired thermal power plants (TPPs) that are in the investment preparation should be only allowed for starting construction if there are the clear waste (ash and slag) handing plans, or the contracts in principle with the demand companies.
