The central province of Ninh Thuan is speeding up the construction of wind and solar power plants in order to generate commercial electricity as scheduled. 

Singapore – based renewables developer The Blue Circle and its Vietnamese partner TSV began construction of Dam Nai wind power plant on April 28 in Tan Hai commune, Ninh Hai district, the central province of Ninh Thuan.

A Canadian investor has plans to invest in the renewable power sector in the central province of Ninh Thuan as a reaction to the increase in unimplemented renewable power projects in the country.

On August 30, 2016, the construction of a 37MW wind power plant began in Phuoc Dinh commune, Thuan Nam district, south central Ninh Thuan province.

  According to the Department of Planning and Investment (DOPI) of Ninh Thuan province, up to now, this province has issued investment decisions for 27 solar projects with a capacity of  1,618.85 MW.

The rooftop solar system in Ninh Thuan power company (PC) has been put into operation at the end of the first quarter of 2018. In operation for two months, this system has generated a total output of 32,950 kWh accounted average generation of 540 kWh/day. Beside the supplying for Ninh Thuan PC self-use the system  has generated to the national power system about16,000 kWh.

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Hoang Trung Hai asked the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the relevant ministries to check and supervise the progress of building the system of legal documents for serving Ninh Thuan NPP, concretize regulations in the Atomic Energy Law (amendment).

The Prime Minister has approved the project for migration and resettlemen of Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Ninh Thuan province.

Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) desires to sign the Contract for Technical Design of Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant and a Contract for designing preparation stage for starting the project at the end of 2014.

On July 30, 2015, ASE – NIAEP Conjugate Company under Russian National Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) and Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) signed a Framework Agreement for implementing construction of the first stage  of Ninh Thuan 1 NPP with the two units by 1,200MW each.

Deputy General Director of Rosatom, Vyacheslav Pershukov, said Vietnam is still in the stage of choosing nuclear power technology, while the investment rate can be calculated only after the completion of the design.
