In November 2020, Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) will promote selling coal, especially coal with high quality. The group strives to exploit 3 million tons of the crude coal and to sell 3.4 million tons of the coal products in November 2020.  

At the commemoration of "30 years of the first ship of Hon Gai Anthracite coal for iron and steel production in Japan”, a working meeting between the leaders of Vietnam National coal and mineral industries Group (Vinacomin) and Japan iron and steel companies.

On October 03, 2017, concluding at the online executive production briefing in October, the General director of Vinacomin Dang Thanh Hai asked the units to concentrate on producing high quality coal for export in order to compensate for the decrease in production due to low demand for electricity generation recent time.

According to the report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) on situation of industrial and trading activities in the first eleven months of 2014, the coal export of  Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industry Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) has been increased for up to 30 percent.

In the spirit of maximum effort to increase produce and process coal with a high level to sanctify high increasing demand, especially coal for electricity. In April Vinacomin exploited coal volume of 4.33 million tons, increasing about 1 million ton compared with average production of the year plan and sold 4.5 million tons. It is the consecutive third month Vinacomin exploited over 4 million tons.

Application of science and technology is one of the strategic solutions for restructuring the industry and trade sector to achieve industrialization, modernization and sustainable development.

On May 9, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan, General Director and Mission of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and worked with Vinacomin leaders in Hanoi and Coal Northeast Corporation (CNC) in Quang Ninh, on coal supply for power generation, especially in the peak hot months of 2023.

On March 3, 2023, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), Minister Nguyen Hong Dien chaired a meeting with the leaders of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), and Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (TKV), Power Generation 1, Power Generation 2, Power Generation- 3 Joint Stock Company, TKV Power Company, PVN Power Company, Northeast Coal Corporation; Ninh Binh Fertilizer Single Company Limited, Ha Bac Fertilizer and Chemical Joint Stock company and a number of the coal-fired thermal power plants on the coal supply and coal import for electricity and nitrogen fertilizer production.

At the conference to review the plans in 2016 of Ministry of Resources and Environment, the Vietnam Geology and Mineral Department informed “At present, there have been identified 55 coal strata placed in 5 stratum groups from the surface to the depth of 1200 meters in mainland part of the Red River coal basin”.

Vietnam National Coal and Minerals Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) speeds up to perfrm the coal export contracts to rapidly release high-quality coal dust and lump coal in stock.

The Minister of Industry and Trade has just issued a Decision approving the coal price framework and electricity generation price framework in 2023. Accordingly, the coal price is 1,808,000 VND/ton, the electricity generation price framework for coal-fired power plants is 0 - 1,559.70 VND/kWh and the electricity generation price range for hydropower plants is 0 - 1,110 VND/kWh (the above price framework does not include value added tax (VAT) and other related taxes and costs).

A conference to agree and sign a cooperation agreement between Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), South East Coal Trading Company (SECTC – Dong Bac Corporation) and Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), on long-term coal supply for Thermal power plants using anthracite coal in EVN has just taken place in Hanoi.

Recently, Binh Son Refinery Company (BSR) was honored to be awarded the certificate “Gold Trusted Quality Supplier 2017” by Vietnam Institute of Enterprises for producing the petrochemical products.

Doosan Enerbility Vietnam Company (Doosan Vina) has just received a certificate from the IHI Corporation for its quality and ability to supply equipment for the Van Phong 1 Thermal Power Plant (VP1) project on schedule during the Covid-19 pandemic.

On June 2nd 2014, a hand-over ceremony of the duty of the Chairmen of Member Council and Secretary of Communist party committee (CPC) of Petrovietnam was held in Ha Noi.
