At the meeting on June 11, 2020 with the Power Corporations, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan, the General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) affirmed the viewpoint of EVN as "creating condition for maximum support to encourage investors in developing rooftop solar power Systems (RSPSs)".

In the second quarter of 2022, the units of the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) promote a labor emulation movement "High working day - High output - High income", focus on coal production to meet maximum demand for electricity generation.

The State-run EVN plans to increase the power price by 9.5 per cent next year, from VND1,508.85 ($0.07) per kWh to VND1,652.19 ($0.072) per kWh. A plan for the increase will be submitted to the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).  

The Prime Minister has just issued a decision on the average retail electricity price(excluding value-added tax) as follows: The minimum average retail price of electricity is 1,826.22 VND/kWh; The maximum average retail price of electricity is VND 2,444.09/kWh (Decision No: 02/2023, dated February 3, 2023).

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has just issued a document for agreement with the proposal of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) on continuing to receive and deal with requirements about the electricity sale from the rooftop solar power projects (SPPs).

The electricity price was adjusted on June 1 in favor of individual and organization consumers, with the average price (VND1,508.85/kWh) kept unchanged.

According to Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), it is not feasible to buy oil with “bottom price” because we do not yet have mechanisms and policies on risks for this activity (buying oil at “bottom price” leads to losses). On the other hand, at present, in Vietnam there are no national oil reserve depots, while the crude oil storages of Dung Quat and Nghi Son refinery plants can only meet production needs of these plants. It is also not feasible to rent an oil tanker (at least at this time), because of difficulty of our financial potential.

The Prime Minister has just issued Decision 08/2020/QD-TTg on amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decision No. 24/2014/QD-TTg dated March 24 / 2014 by the Prime Minister on the mechanism to support developing the biomass power projects in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has just promulgated Decision No. 281 on 2019 range of price of electricity generation, applicable for negotiating PPAs (as stipulated in Article 1 of Circular No. 57/ 2014/TT-BCT dated December 19, 2014 of the Minister of Industry and Trade). 

On January 11, 2019 The Prime Minister issued the Decision to amend and supplement a number of articles of the Decision No. 11/2017 / QD-TTg of the Prime Minister dated April 11, 2017 on incentive mechanism for developing solar power projects in Vietnam. In which, there is modification of the regulations on electricity prices for the rooftop solar power projects.  

In the conclusion of a hand over to the next shift of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the Minister Vu Huy Hoang  said the electricity tariffs will be soon adjusted from 6 to 3 price steps and come to a single step in future.

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has just decided to adjust the average electricity retail price by VND 1,920.3732/kWh (excluding value added tax - VAT) from May 4, 2023.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has approved the wholesale price framework of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) for the power corporations in 2018.
