The situation of the price negotiations for the transitional wind and solar power projects

According to EVN's report: As of the morning of October 2, 2023, there are 62 transitional renewable energy projects, with a total capacity of 3,399.41 MW, whose temporary prices have been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (an increase of 2 additional projects compared to last week) are Tan An 1 Wind Power Project (period 2021 - 2025) and Cong Ly Soc Trang Wind Power Project (phase 1).
The number of projects that have submitted documents to the Electricity Power Trading Company (EPTC) for negotiating electricity prices and power purchase agreements is still 81/85 projects, with a total capacity of 4,597.86 MW. There are 68 projects requesting temporary prices equal to 50% of the ceiling price of the price framework according to Decision No. 21/QD-BCT dated January 7, 2023, of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT).
Up to now, EVN and the investors have completed price negotiations and initialed power purchase agreements (PPA) with 62/68 projects.
Along with that, 20 projects /parts of projects with a total capacity of 1,171.72 MW have completed procedures to recognize commercial operation date (COD), and generated commercial electricity to the grid.
Currently, there are 23 projects that have been accepted by competent state management agencies for the project/part of the project, 29 projects have been granted electricity operation licenses for the entire project/part of the project and 39 projects have decided to extend the investment policy.
However, up to now, there are still 4 projects, with a total capacity of 136.70 MW, that have not yet submitted negotiation documents. According to updated data, accumulated electricity output as of September 21, 2023 reached more than 625 million kWh. The Vietnam Energy Magazine Editorial Board continues to monitor and update the status of electricity price negotiations for transitional wind and solar power projects when new aggregate data are available.
