Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to urgently modify and supplement Circular No. 15/2022/TT-BCT dated October 3, 2022, and Decision No. 21/QD-BCT dated January 7, 2023, on the framework of electricity generation prices for the transitional solar and wind power plants.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has just sent a document to the Ministry of Justice requesting the review the effectiveness of legal documents of the Government and the Prime Minister.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has just required Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to urgently coordinate with the investors of the transitional wind and solar power projects to unify the electricity prices before March 31, 2023.

In order to negotiate and agree on the electricity prices of a part of the power project/the whole power project without electricity prices, the Power Trading Company (EVNEPTC) has just sent a written document to request the solar and wind power investors, to check the legal documents of the projects complying with the legal regulations on investment and construction or not. Especially, the evaluating documents of the power system operation units about the absorption ability of the national power system, as well as the ability to release the capacity of the power grid related to the project.

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has just sent a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Electricity Regulatory Authority on establishing a framework for electricity prices of transitional solar and wind power projects.

Implementing periodic targets assigned by Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) in the Direction No 11 dated at 22/4/2014 on strengthening publicity and transparency in electricity and gasoline businesses, the Electricity Regulatory Agency of Vietnam (ERAV) has just haven an official document to inform basic input parameters of the electricity prices in 2016, and avoided cost tariffs and electricity generation price frameworks in 2017.

Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has issued Decision No 5107/QD-BCT on regulating the framework of electricity prices from thermal and hydrological power plants in 2017, according to which, the ceiling price level (without VAT) of coal-fired thermal plant is calculated by parameters of fuel used for power generation and the ceiling price level (without Royalties, forest environmental service fees and VAT) of hydrological plant is 1070 dong/kWh.

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN)’s wholesale electricity prices sold to its power corporations in 2016 would be increased by two to five percent over last year.

At the Mid-term Vietnam Business Forum 2015 (VBF), with the theme "Improving the Competitive capacity of Enterprises for International Integration" was just held in Hanoi, regarding the worry before of foreign business community on the electricity shortage and supply reliability problems in Vietnam in future, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung quieted the investors that the Roadmap of electricity prices will be evidently public in coming time. Besides, PM also confirmed, there will be no shortage of electricity and energy in Vietnam even up to 2020 or 2030.
