On July 12, in Hanoi, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), had a working with Mr. Stephan Opitz - General Director in charge of Europe - Asia regions of the German Reconstruction Bank (KfW). At the meeting, the two sides exchanged difficulties in arranging capital for the projects.

Siemens has signed contracts with the state-owned utility General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) to expand Libya’s power generation capacity by approximately 1.3 gigawatts (GW). Under these contracts Siemens will build a 650 MW open cycle power plant in Misrata, equipped with two F-class gas turbines, and a 690 MW open cycle power plant in Tripoli West, equipped with four E‑class gas turbines.The total volume of EPC contracts, including long-term service agreements, is in the range of 700 million euros.

GE announced its fleet of HA gas turbines has achieved 30,000 combined operating hours and net efficiency at nearly 64% just over a year after the first combined-cycle power plant equipped with GE’s HA turbine in Bouchain, France.

On January 22, 2016, Siemens handed over the combined cycle power plant equipped with a Siemens H-class gas turbine at the Lausward location in the Düsseldorf (Germany) harbor area to the customer and operator, the utility company Stadtwerke Düsseldorf AG. The turnkey plant sets three new records in world-wide comparison.

Being the first and largest BOT power plant in Vietnam using pulverized coal fired boiler technology, Mong Duong 2 BOT will provide much electricity for the national power system. With fuel source from one of the largest and highest quality coal mines in the north, the power plant has the advantage of stable and reliable coal supply. Along with the investment in modern technology, the plant is expected to contribute to resolving power shortages in the coming years.

After nearly 15 months of construction, on June 17th, 2015, at the Vinh Tan Commune, Tuy Phong District, Binh Thuan Province, the consortium of Doosan Vina contractors held a ceremony to lift and place the "Heavy Girder" for Unit 1 of Vinh Tan 4.

Speaking in conclusion at the meeting of the State Steering Committee for Nationl Power Development Planning, the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Hoang Trung Hai has agreed with a number of suggestions of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Groups to accelerate the progress and release the obstacles for the Power Plant and Power Grid Projects.

In the first 9 months of 2014, most power projects of EVN were implemented on schedule, especially 4 units of power plants with a total capacity of 1622 MW have been synchronized with the National Power System.
